Welcome to Wikipedia, Peter, and great username! You're all squared away with the instructor right that will allow you to set up a course in our system. Is Nathan Kapoor part of your class, or a separate section that he's running? Either way, I'm happy to help you both.--ragesoss (talk) 21:07, 15 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Peter. I'm happy to help. The instructor version of the tutorial is here WP:EDUCATORS. It parallels the student tutorial closely, except with some additional sections geared toward assignment design and the use of our course page system. Try that out, and then we can talk over your plans.--ragesoss (talk) 21:38, 21 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Change in your user rights edit

Your Wikipedia account was previously granted a user right called "course instructor" by the Wiki Education Foundation. That right enabled you to create a course page through the EducationProgram MediaWiki extension. Starting in fall 2015, the Wiki Education Foundation has discontinued its use of this extension. Going forward, users should create course pages through the Wiki Education Foundation website. That application is more user-friendly, and any content is automatically mirrored to Wikipedia. To prevent confusion, we'll be removing your "course instructor" user right, as it is not needed with the new system. This is simply a notification of the technical change to your account. No action is needed from you at this time.

If you plan on teaching with Wikipedia for the fall 2015 term, please email me (helaine wikiedu.org) for instructions how to create your next course page using our new system. --Helaine (Wiki Ed) (talk), sent by MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:34, 21 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Copyvio edit

You are listed as an instructor at Wikipedia:Wiki Ed/University of Oklahoma/Science, Nature and Society (Fall 2015). I notice you edited Darwin and Women. I have requested that the article be deleted because it is a copy of http://www.icr.org/article/darwins-teaching-womens-inferiority/ I see no evidence at that website that their material is licensed in a manner which means it can be freely copied to here. Further, even if it were so licensed, such copying would be unattributed plagiarism. New material needs to be carefully checked for those problems, particularly in a wiki education program. I haven't studied the material, but a glance suggests that even if it were properly released, the current text is wildly unsuitable as an article as it contains quite outrageous exaggerations and distortions, not to mention the imposition of 2015 interpretations on 1850 writing. Tube Alloys edit

Can we remove Tube Alloys from Wikipedia:Wiki Ed/University of Oklahoma/Cold War Science (Spring 2017)? I have already improved the article and have it at FAC. I can help your students with other articles. Hawkeye7 (talk) 05:53, 19 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Star Wars at Cold War Science edit

Hey! I noticed that you recently added Star Wars for Wikipedia:Wiki Ed/University of Oklahoma/Cold War Science (Spring 2018) and I was wondering if it's supposed to be Strategic Defense Initiative, known as the Star Wars? I know the addition of the template was reverted by another user previously because of this, as it doesn't make much rational sense that a project about Cold War Science would assign a film franchise. I just wanted to check. ~Cheers, TenTonParasol 16:46, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

I just came here to say the same thing. Tagging the film franchise article for the course is inappropriate, as it has nothing to do with the scope of the course, other than being the inspiration for a press nickname for the real-world muzzle project. oknazevad (talk) 18:55, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi TenTonParasol and oknazevad. The students in this course are still in training. I have no idea how one of them ended up with the page for Star Wars (the movie series) listed as 'Assigned'. Perhaps they tried an edit to build confidence, but I don't see them in the History. The first list of suggestions for actual pages to build or edit was posted today; Star Wars is not part of it. Best, Voxcanis.

Student edits at Apollonius of Perga edit

Hello Peter. Your student Escalara2019 has been making edits to Apollonius of Perga as part of a class you're teaching. Many of these use ordinary references to refer to other Wikipedia pages rather than wikilinks. I've fixed most of these, with appropriate edit messages, but he or she seems not to have noticed and keeps adding new ones. I've also tried to contact them on their Talk page, but again this seems not to have been noticed, since they're still adding new ones. I've simply reverted the most recent edits, since no learning appears to be happening. Could you perhaps talk to them and give some guidance? Thanks! Martijn Meijering (talk) 09:12, 15 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for this save! I have contacted the student through local email, with instructions. Hope this improves things. Peter (Voxcanis). Voxcanis (talk) 20:31, 15 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you ... edit

... for being the voice of my people, but I'm afraid that I have reverted you at Prophetic medicine because your edit was not supported by WP:MEDRS sources. Please dont do that again. thanks -Roxy the dog. wooF 22:50, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Roxy:
This is h i s t o r y. The main section you removed was on modern research on
h i s t o r i c a l remedies. Do you seriously think anyone would go to this article for medical advice?
Yours, Voxcanis Voxcanis (talk) 03:48, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Not sure of the point you are making, or why you have so strangely spaced some of your words, so please dont do that again, thanks. -Roxy the dog. wooF 07:29, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

One of your student's pages edit

Though I have nothing to do with your course, I thought you should be made aware that the page Science of Nuclear Weapons would likely get deleted as Nuclear weapon design likely covers the topic. If your student is interested in working on that article, it will be welcomed. It has many issues and needs someone to go through it. They certainly should not feel shy about deleting uncited sections wholesale, either. Kylesenior (talk) 01:35, 17 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Copyright issues edit

Hi - I'm Girth Summit, an administrator here. I'm having an issue with one of your students adding content to our articles which are pretty blatant copyright violations. Do you discuss the copyright policy with them in your training? The account is Almipe2022; the article I see copyvio issues on is Humorism, but I've also reverted a number of their other edits based on dubious sourcing. Also pinging Ian (Wiki Ed) as the Wikipedia expert listed on the course page. Thanks Girth Summit (blether) 22:06, 6 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
