unblock edit

I do not understand why I have been blocked from editing articles - I have never added erroneous or incorrect information and have never added or deleted information with a mallicious intent or to vandalise the articles but ratehr only to add additional or factual inforamtion - i beleive I have been blocked simply because I have commented on discussion pages regarding issues that the "blocker" simply does not agree with realting to Judy Garland's Gay icon status. I beleive teh block to be a personal vendetta and I request that the block be removed. If this is nto psossible i request specific detail of what contributions that i have made that are considered vandalism and why? - I am very disappointed by this action.

vono

You have never been blocked as can be seen here. However, you may be caught by a MediaWiki "feature" called Wikipedia:Autoblock or if you share an IP, another user on your IP has caused your IP to be blocked. Please copy and paste the entire block message below and I will see what we can do. Sasquatch t|c 18:20, 24 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

here is the entire message Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing. You were blocked by Davodd for the following reason (see our blocking policy): repeat vandal Your IP address is 145.229.156.40.

This is my work PC not my home PC I really do not understand the reason as while perhaps my entries reflect my own interests they are factual and documentable and referenced - I usually do remove anyone's input unless it is rude or totally inappropriate

I have unblocked that address. Please be aware that this IP address may be subject to future blocks. However they hopefully will be shorter in length. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 01:29, 2 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I am contacting you as you commented in the deletion discussion for these lists. You may not have realised that recently some users have placed conditions for inclusion on these lists that many users find unreasonable. Currently, no common sense is permitted in judging whether a person should be on the list. Even if a person is sourced as having both parents born in X Country, or if they say "my family is X", or "I have X blood" we still can't list them. Many users disagree with Jack'O Lantern and other users who have adopted this position. For more discussion related to this and proof many people disagree see Talk:List of Estonian Americans, Talk:List of Greek-Americans, Talk:List of Polish-Americans, Wikipedia:Village_pump_(policy)#Is_deductive_reasoning_original_research.3F, Wikipedia:Village_pump_(policy)#ethnicity.2C_hyphenation.2C_and_membership, Wikipedia:Village_pump_(policy)#Deductive_inferences_in_OR. Please also see the continuing discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lists of Irish-Americans. Thanks Arniep 10:35, 6 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

If you don't wish to read through all that please state your support or opposition for my proposal here Wikipedia:WikiProject Ethnic groups/Rules for lists of X-Americans. Thanks! Arniep 11:22, 6 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi there - I agree with your comments, and I've just sent a warning to the user regarding vandalism to the Judy Garland article. See you later.

Judy Garland edit

Hi there Vono; I think it's best if the Myths and Rumors section is deleted. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, so there is no need for that particular section. If it hasn't already been removed, I'll remove it now. Thanks for notifying me! --LBM | TALK TO ME 19:07, 29 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Garland ancestry edit

Hey Vono. I did take out a lot of the ancestry information because I felt like it threw the article out of balance. I have several biographies of Garland and none of them go into her ancestry much further than her grandmother, certainly they don't go back into colonial times or talk about how her ancestors may have been slave owners or the other stuff that was in that section. I did relocate some of it to the intro. There was a line about "Irish charm" from Lorna's book previously. Maybe if that were re-inserted that would address your concerns? Otto4711 (talk) 18:22, 27 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Garland legacy edit

My big concern with adding the sort of information that you're suggesting to the main article is that if you take a look at what happened to the last article that included it, it turned into a huge mess plunking in unrelated and in some instances near-random information with no coherent plan. I don't think it's really part of her "legacy" anyway that she was used to advertise Max Factor or M&Ms or what have you. Mentioning a few of the artists inspired by her, if they are themselves notable, would be fine but I've seen very little in the way of reliable sourcing for the previously included lists and see such a list quickly attracting the sort of clutter that the previous iterations did. As for things like dolls or other collectibles, they might be better served as a separate article along the lines of Britney Spears products, in which they can be discussed and sourced in a way so as to not unbalance the main article. Much of this material was in the main article at some point and was split off into the separate article which has since been turned into List of Judy Garland awards and honors. Back-dooring too much of it into the main article is only going to get it split off or deleted again. Otto4711 (talk) 19:57, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Garland ancestry article edit

Can you go through the article and correct the references? The reference should follow the punctuation, not precede it. There also need to be page numbers for the book references, e.g. <ref>Clarke p. 22</ref> and a "References" section for the books like the one in the main Judy Garland article. Thanks! Judy Garland and Nellie Kelly edit

Hi, yes I'll have a look for images and see what I can do. I'll let you know if I'm able to find anything suitable. Rossrs (talk) 13:07, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs edit

Hello Vono! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 943 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Mickey McConnell - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
