COEP - Object Oriented Modeling and Design

edit

Hi Vaibhav, I've problem which you maybe can help me solve. I've been selected as the Online Ambassador for the course 'COEP - Object Oriented Modeling and Design' which you are one of the Campus Ambassadors. The problem is that I couldn't attend the webinar last Friday, so I've no idea where I'm supposed to find the students or when the course will start. Do you have a link to a project page or something like that? By the way, I've sent a copy of this message to Alex since neither of you have logged in in the last 7 days.

Thanks in advance, jonkerz 02:53, 27 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Problem solved, I received an email from Nikita @ WMF. jonkerz 18:18, 27 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Vaibhav, this is Sanjeev M K of the OOMD elective course. I have written my article on my sandbox, which is here User:Sanjeevmk/sandbox. I am yet to add references to this article. Also, I have to add diagrams to explain the concept, which I will soon do. But it would be good if you can check this article before I proceed further. (I have added the link to my sandbox on my user page as well as the main OOMD page). Thanking you in anticipation, Regards, Sanjeev M K. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sanjeevmk (talkcontribs) 08:49, 12 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hey i Chekd ur page ...itz gud, add references soon ,most probably add a start paragraph preceding the index ,wud luk good. And as long as it does not violate copyrights itz gr8.!!:-)Vaibhavchandak (talk) 13:49, 12 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Vaibhav, Sanjeev again. I have finished my article now. I have added references, given in-line citations and added diagrams. I have made the diagrams myself, under the Creative Commons License. Could you please check the article and give me your feedback?. This weekend is the deadline for wikipedia articles for this course. So, before I post this, I want to make sure that it doesn't get deleted. I have not copied the content from anywhere, the entire article is based on one research paper at ACM, and I have given that article as the reference. Could you please check if everything is proper? The article is here in my sandbox. Thanking you in anticipation, Regards, Sanjeev M K. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sanjeevmk (talkcontribs) 20:53, 18 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Learn how bitwise operators are used for reducing the time complexity for arithmetic operations (e.g. Power of 2 == shift left). You can also find examples of interesting use cases for bitwise operations. Also explain MACRO definitions which rely on Bitwise OR. abhijit13(talk) 09:43, 7 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

User page categorisation

edit

Hi, I am trying to avoid your Vaibhavchandak/sandbox page appearing in article categories, by changing the categorisation to one-way links. See WP:Categorising user pages. I will try again; let me know of any problems. Vadmium (talk, contribs) 03:37, 9 October 2011 (UTC).Reply

User talk:Netra Nahar

edit

Hi. I'm just letting you know that we check all articles very carefully for copyright violations. In case you don't know, text, sentences, and images must not be taken from other sources. Students of the IEP may be finding their articles deleted if they continue to do so. Please help us by nforming other students, and checking articles, and notifying us of any copyvios. Thanks. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 09:02, 14 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi from me too. I know it's nice to be encouraging to the other students but on this student's talk page you wrote "Your article is looking gud...Great going...Keep editing". If you were referring to Artificial Intelligence in Data Mining, I have just had to reduce it to a stub. It consisted almost entirely of material pasted in from 7 separate copyright sources + one marked quote falsely attributed. User:Netra Nahar/Gray Box Testing likewise is full of copyright material. If you are unsure how to spot this kind of copypasting, please let me know. I know that the CAs on the course are all overstretched. If you haven't got the time or experience to evaluate articles and check them carefully yourself (which is entirely understandable), then you need make sure that you don't give the students an evaluation that will give them false confidence. This is really important. Voceditenore (talk) 12:35, 14 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
I am extremely sorry for that. I actually was in rush while checking that article .I assure you that i will be very careful in future I will remove comments I made.Vaibhavchandak (talk) 19:00, 14 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hi Vaibhavchandak. Don't remove your comments. It's much better to add a clarification and explanation. And don't worry too much. I realize the pressure you are all under. These things are bound to happen, but it's important to learn from them. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 19:07, 14 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thank you sir for your help it feels really great when someone you dont know helps .As the deadlines are approaching we might have a few more cases of copyvios and these will be dealt seriously, I assure you. I actually wanted to encourage the person, I should have been careful.Keep helping us sir.Thanks..!!Vaibhavchandak (talk) 19:29, 14 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hi Vaibhavchandak, I'm a "ma'am", not a "sir". I taught for many years in British universities, so I know what students go through. Besides, I was a student myself, a loooong time ago. Anyhow, I fully understand and it will be OK in the end. I bet you never thought being a campus ambassador would be so exciting  . Voceditenore (talk) 21:00, 14 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
I've also taught for many years in European and Asian universities and understand the problems. We're helping where we can but we're beginning to get overloaded. We need all the help we can get from the IEP campus ambassadors, who also should make sure they are up to date on Wikipedia policy and page editing :) Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 04:56, 15 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi, please see User talk:Awadhutmore. I left them a message about not putting copyright material in their user draft. I have removed it but they may come to you with fiurther questions. It is really important to emphasise to students that copyright text cannot be posted anywhere on Wikipedia, including user pages. Best wishes, Voceditenore (talk) 08:29, 21 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
