Dear UDoWs: Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD!--Heidijane 15:10, 16 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Password

edit

{{helpme}} I have sort of lost my password. I changed my password a while a go when there was incident in finland where someone revealed ~78000 passwords of finnish users. My passwords weren't on the list but I decided to change some of them, including the password of this accout here. I must have typoed twise, which is not something I'm really amazed about. I have tried every possible typo of my password that i can imagine but no luck. What can i do about this, I don't have email here so I cant get a new password that way.

Unfortunately, if you haven't registered an email address, there is nothing that can be done to retrieve your password. Sorry. You are welcome to make a new account, however, and redirect this account's user page to your new one. This usually works for most users. Hersfold (t/a/c) 22:06, 13 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

The sign in page says that: "If your account is compromised, it may be permanently blocked unless you can prove you are its rightful owner." If nothing can be done then what does that mean? By the way, do User pages go old or something? Then I could just wait and create the accout again? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.186.252.116 (talk) 22:41, 13 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
