"Sweet Sacrifice" Turkish chart edit

Irregardless of whether it is true or not, Wikipedia works off Verifiability. If it cannot be proven through sources, it should not be included on the website. Please do not readd this again without a valid source, namely one that actually states facts about the single. This can be a website, magazine, or most anything else. I'd be more than happy to help you determine what is and isn't a valid source, but you *must* have something. Similar to this, I'm likely going to remove the other charts, since they too don't list any sort of source. Huntster (t@c) 01:14, 12 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I mean no disrespect, but I couldn't understand some of what you wrote. The fact is, I'm against virtually anything that is not accompanied by a source, or that is readily apparent to others (such as which television series). A statistic such as a chart position doesn't meet that last point, and thus needs a source. You say it can be found in a magazine...why not use that magazine as the source (provided you specify issue number and date of publication)? Huntster (t@c) 01:32, 12 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
That's the problem, though. We cannot say to one editor, "Oh, your edit is not backed up by any evidence of proof but we'll keep it because we trust you"; but then say to another, "Sorry, your edit isn't backed up either, and we're deleting it." I hope you can understand where I'm coming from here...it is fairly discriminatory to allow one thing but disallow another, when both are based on nothing but the word of the editor alone.
I'm not asking you to take a picture of the magazine, but to simply provide the title, publication number, date (or month/year) of publication, and anything else relevant to it (basically, we want to fill in as many of the blanks at {{Cite journal}} as possible). And as I said above, I'll likely be removing the entire section of chart material since none have references, except yours, possibly. Huntster (t@c) 01:49, 12 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that is great information. If you can fill in the blanks in the following template, that would be even better:
{{cite journal |title= |journal=Billboard Türkiye |publisher= |location= |month=July |year=2007 |volume= |issue=9 |pages= |issn=1307-0959}}
Title is the article name or section name; Location is the physical location of the magazine publisher, but this is not very important; Volume typically relates to the year of publication, but it may be that Billboard Turkiye does not use this; Pages is just the page number or numbers that the info is found on. Thanks! Huntster (t@c) 02:32, 12 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that is all the information that is really needed for a citation. It will allow someone who really wants to confirm the information to look it up themselves. As for the title, I just wrote "Weekly Top 20" as a placeholder, since I had to put something there. If you know the proper title of the article or section, or can put something more appropriate there, please do so. Cheers! Huntster (t@c) 03:37, 12 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Excellent! Thank you for working with me on this. Huntster (t@c) 03:45, 12 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sıla discography edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Sıla discography, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion of Image:Sıla.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on Image:Sıla.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Sıla.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Image copyright problem with Image:Mor ve ötesi cd single deli.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Mor ve ötesi cd single deli.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

What do you mean with reliable and is this list published somewhere? If this D&R is the only big album chart in Turkey why isn't it considered reliable? --Be Black Hole Sun (talk) 21:28, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Its good you have your singles chart. My last question is the D&R published in a magazine/newspaper of some kind, cause if it did it would be considered official. --Be Black Hole Sun (talk) 21:45, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well the Norwegian record chart VG-lista has never said that they are an official chart, while the top thiry is published in a newspaper and is considered a official chart by many people. It doesn't have its own magazine either so. But this is Norway, i don't really know the situation in Turkey, is the chart well known in the country. If it is would't it fall under a official chart? --Be Black Hole Sun (talk) 21:58, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Good ask your friends. I can check the Iceland chart, they speak form of norwegian so wouldn't be hard to find out more about that chart. Oh just gonna say great finding these new charts, here on wikipedia we seem to only add western European and North American chart positions which francly kinda enoying. :) --Be Black Hole Sun (talk) 22:26, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
First i'm goin to say i agree with you, spanish and french are a boring. Well i would say latvian, norwegian and lithuanian would be intresting languages, but if your learn norwegian you won't have much use for it outside of Norwaay, but since latvian and lithuanian is a very broad language in eastern europe i would say one of them. But if you want to learn for fun take norwegian. :) --Be Black Hole Sun (talk) 22:48, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Here [1], here you have the link to the Macedonian chart and many others. --Be Black Hole Sun (talk) 07:54, 1 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well its not many differences between Swedish and Norwegian other then some words and how we speak. My point is if you understand norwegian its a big chance you'll understand Swedish and the same if you Swedish you'll understand norwegian. Both of the languages are of German ancestry. But i'm not sure if Swedish is easier but if it sais that in a book or something i ges its right. --Be Black Hole Sun (talk) 12:22, 1 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Katy Perry discog - Turkey charts edit

Hi. Your additions of the Turkey charts are violating Wikipedia guidelines and policies. Firstly, A limit of approximately 10 separate charts is suggested, we already have 15. Further charts are not necessary, especially when they are not referenced. It is not up to me to search a chart up, to verify if it is 'real' or 'true'. It is up to you to add the reference or source to the article. As you can see, this is done with every single other chart in the article. <ref name="TUR"/> is a code that links to another code, which provides the actual link and source. You need to provide a web url to a reliable source (look at the other ref tags i have added into the article). Saying do not remove this has absolutely no merit if your edits are unjust and against policy, and i will continue to revert, because it seems that you (assumption here) just want your own country's chart or something in the table. k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 04:40, 21 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

In the case of the Greek charts, you are right to remove them, because they are charts from a single network. Please realized that neither WP:GOODCHARTS nor WP:BADCHARTS is complete: if a chart isn't listed on either one, you should take the time to look at it and make a decision.—Kww(talk) 16:32, 15 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

It is definitely the wrong decision to take out the Greek charts. The GoodCharts page was not written by God, there are a lot of things wrong with it, especially the fact that it mostly pertains to rules that work well with US singles, albums etc. The Billboard chart, first of all, is not the official Greek singles chart. It is just for downloads. 95% of singles released by Greek artists are NOT released as CD singles, but only to airplay, so reaching number 1 on the airplay/top 40 chart in Greece (where hundreds of songs are released in the world at a time) is a much bigger success than topping the bilboard/top 50 singles chart (where about 10 singles a year are released from Greek artists). Thus, they are not interchangeable. Grk1011 and I have been working on this page extensively as well as other song pages along with users such as Greekboy, and over a long period of time, we have determined the correct way that we cite charts for Greek song pages. We have researched these things and that is how we know how the charts really work in Greece. For these types of things, you can't just follow one specific rule (although these charts do not break any rules according to the page; they are just not named), you must accomodate the requirements of each individual country, esp. in Eastern Europe. For future reference, these are official charts in Greece:
  • Greek Airplay Chart (Top 20 Airplay singles from all over the world)
  • Greek Top 40 Chart (Top 40 Greek-language songs; usually the most notable for a Greek song that goes to number 1)
  • Bilboard Greek Singles Chart (digital downloads; uses same numbers as iTunes)
  • Greek Top 50 Singles Chart (Best-selling CD singles from all over the world)

PS: examples of radio charts in Greece are MAD Top 50 Countdown, Sfera FM Top, etc. The fact that it was received from a site called Radio1 to not make the airplay and top 40 radio charts. I mean, there are airplay and top 40 charts in the US too, and it is fine to use these. Have a nice day. GreekStar12 (talk) 05:20, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • We also publish a monthly newsletter that keeps you up to date on project, member, and Eurovision news.
If you decide to join the project, please add your name to this list.
I hope you accept! - Grk1011/Stephen (talk)

I really appreciate your efforts in the charts even though we may have had our differences on a few issues. I think you would be a great addition to the project becuase I feel that our song pages are lacking. Even if you only focus on charts, at least we could have that under control. As a member of the project, we would welcome your opinion in content discussions and can always use more help on Eurovision pages. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 02:33, 19 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Finnish charts edit

I noticed that you had removed the Finnish chart positions that I added for Rändajad, Fairytale and Is It True? The site that I linked to is actually the official Finnish chart site. The finnishcharts.com site has the same chart information but it is usually updated a couple of days later. See Wikipedia:Record charts for proof. YuckieDuck (talk) 20:25, 20 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

charts edit

The Lithuanian charts are already listed. Can you give me a link to the Icelandic chart you are discussing?—Kww(talk) 21:03, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

You are going to have to give me some time on this one. Icelandic isn't close enough to any language I speak for me to understand their site, and I can't find a translation tool quickly, either.—Kww(talk) 21:41, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Finnish charts edit

I added the download chart to WP:GOODCHARTS, but this is a chart that shouldn't be used often. Finland is a small country, and it won't usually be very important that a song entered this chart.—Kww(talk) 12:15, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Greek airplay edit

I'm not sure if you were involved in the discussion of the Radio1 charts, but it was determined that the airplay chart was the sole good chart from the site and it can be used because it has a reliable way of gathering its information. Just because someone gave you trouble on another page does not mean they were right and allow you to add the chart to the bad chart list. If the other user reverts you again, direct him to the discussion on the chart's talk page. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 03:42, 7 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Harrypatchsingle.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Harrypatchsingle.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Faroe Islands edit

Please don't add the Faroe Islands chart to articles. It's a a tiny population, so it generally isn't significant, and it's such a small group of islands that I suspect that the chart is the playlist of a single station. If it's single station, it clearly shouldn't be included. Otherwise, the only time it should be included is for artists that have some special tie to the Faroe Islands.—Kww(talk) 05:28, 24 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

You can bring it back up at WT:Record charts if you want, but the language is "the only exception to this rule is when there is a very specific reason, such as charts representing the home country of the artist or composer (this can mean country of origin, country of residence, official nationality or any country where the artist or composer has lived for a substantial part of their lives) or releases with a strong link to the country in question (e.g. Eurovision entries).". That's why I left the chart in at Aura Dione: since she's got Faroese descent, it seemed to meet that exception.—Kww(talk) 05:50, 24 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Charts edit

Edit summaries like this one are a really bad idea. I have edited the charts, as charly1300.com is on WP:Record charts#Websites to avoid. I'll check the article out again in a few weeks. Hopefully, there will be some real references for the Turkish charts by then.—Kww(talk) 22:03, 16 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Icelandic chart edit

What do you know about the Icelandic chart? Can you give me any pointers as to who publishes it and why you believe it to be reliable? It looks to be a commercial website offering music for sale.—Kww(talk) 23:53, 10 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

If you have access to an Icelandic translator so that I can figure out what those sentences said, I'd be more persuaded. What I know is that the site has a shopping cart and a Facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/Tonlist#!/Tonlist?v=info shows them as having "Music and Music Videos" as their products, with a mission of "Deliver Icelandic artists to the world". That looks like a shop.—Kww(talk) 00:35, 11 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi. When you recently edited Love Me Back (Can Bonomo song), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Digital download (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Swedish Heatseekers chart edit

Please stop adding the Heatseekers chart peak in Sweden onto 100. This is incorrect. Firstly, it is not the same chart as the top 100, so you're assuming it's a simple extension chart when it's not, as songs that make the top 100 do not fall back through the extension chart—it only tracks songs that haven't yet made the top 100 and not those that have fallen out and may be sitting right below 100 in terms of sales. This is the exact same reason most discographies on Wikipedia use notes to show that the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart in the United States is different from the Billboard Hot 100. The same goes for the Ultratop in Belgium and the Ultratip, and the Dutch Tipparade. Don't add the extension positions onto however many positions the main chart has, or it will be removed and corrected. Additionally, when adding these, please don't use the singlechart template for Sweden as a basis, as swedishcharts.com does not and probably will never show Heatseekers peaks, so it's essentially just useless text. Thank you. Ss112 08:24, 22 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Adding the Dutch Tip charts edit

Hi. Several things about the Dutch Tip charts you added the other day. Firstly, the chart's name is just "Single Tip". There is no reference to it on the site as "Single Tip 30" just because it has 30 places. Also, please copy the site's title when adding citations. When you added the chart to articles, you just wrote "Dutch Charts Single Tip 30" for specific song links that have different titles. Also, please don't open a new row (the |-) at the end of chart tables if you're adding an entry to the bottom of them. Please also try to fill out your citations with a bit more than just url= and title=. Thanks. Ss112 20:54, 1 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:43, 29 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
