Hello Deb, I do not know Abimbola personally. I attended a virtual conference with her and Tina Wells. I found Tina's page and thought it would make sense to use a similar format for the other speaker based on the introduction received at Visa. Didn't seem like a promotion for anything or anyone (especially since it was the exact same format). Was it simply the link to the book or something else? Tovies (talk) 04:01, 23 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

That's a fair question. and thanks for answering honestly. I've just had another look at the deleted draft and it's certainly a borderline case. However, we have major problems with spammers and people promoting their own businesses - often very small businesses - so any new user who begins by trying to create a whole new article on someone relatively obscure attracts attention to their efforts. I'm not sure about Tina Wells - that article is several years old and perhaps there was less scrutiny of it; but also, Tina Wells's books have been published by major publishing houses, whereas Dames's book was produced by a firm I can't find out anything about - not to mention the fact that it's a children's book and not relevant to the field in which Dames is supposed to be notable. Company names like "Bold Insider Marketing" also ring alarm bells, and looks like the "global costume design house" Shi'idor no longer exists. I'd be prepared to restore the draft, but you've got a lot of work to do on demonstrating notability before you'll get it through review. Do you want me to do that? Deb (talk) 09:11, 23 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello Deb, yes, thank you. You can feel free to restore the draft. I will reach out to Visa for the bio they provided before Dames spoke and review which elements of that would be better for this article. I also understand that Shi'dor is based in the Caribbean with an LLC presence in Florida catering to international carnivals so that may be why the presence doesn't appear as big here. The children's books on the other hand are specifically aimed at black children, i.e. for diversity and inclusion which is the field she represents at Visa. Is there a timeline I need to keep in mind, or can I edit this at my leisure? I'd also like to edit the Tina Wells article as well if that would be okay. She was another dynamic speaker and the article doesn't do her any justice.Tovies (talk) 05:50, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
