Welcome edit

You might like some of these links and tips:

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

User page edit

It would be good if you wrote a little about yourself on your user page. It is not a home page, but it belongs to the wiki as general information. Perhaps, take an interest in the layout of others' users pages before starting your own. Snowman 18:53, 19 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

"??" is now on your user page, which is a start. Snowman 13:47, 15 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on Image:800px-Ken church-1-.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

I have seen some of your useful contributions to the wiki, but guess that this was probably your first experimentation with wiki images. I uploaded the original image which I moved to the "St Nicholas' Church, Kenilworth" page, shortly after you started a new page there. It was originally on the "Kenilworth, Warwickshire" page where I guess you copied the image from. The full resolution version of the original copy is only available from my copy. You used used a different copyright to the one that I used, and one that I did not want to use. I am asking for your modified version of my image to be deleted, because it is not needed by the wiki. It is actually easy with the appropriate wiki code to include an image on a page and it does not have to be downloaded and then uploaded again.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on [[Talk:Image:800px-Ken church-1-.jpg|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

Images edit

  • Give your image a name that is descriptive of what it is.
  • Use "Upload file" link which is on the left of the wiki pages.
  • Browse to your image and upload it, you might have to wait a minute (or more) while it uploads. That is the upload finished.
  • Go the the page where you what the image to be and start to edit it. Write some special code on the page where you want it to go. See examples on any page when you do some editing. The code enables image size, position, and a caption. You must get this code correct - look at the format of several image links, if you are not sure. You must get the name of the image exactly correct - note that the image links are case sensitive, so you must get .jpg or .JPG correct also.
  • If the image is already uploaded or if it is on another page, then all you have to do is write the special code and the picture (the one copy on the wiki - with the copyright that the author selected or an appropriate copyright) will be linked your page and to the original page.
  • Have another go at uploading some pictures. If you get it wrong first time, do not worry. Snowman 14:03, 15 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Incumbent edit

Incidentally, I would be interested to know what the responsibilities and duties of an incumbent are. Perhaps, this is worth a mention above the wiki list. Snowman 14:03, 15 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Image:Stnicksken.JPG edit

A tag has been placed on Image:Stnicksken.JPG, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

I have used image editing software to straighten this image and improve the contrast. This version of the image is no longer needed by the wiki, because it has been replaced by an enhanced version

Another editor has sorted out this image and it is new kept in the history of the image, but a digitally enhanced version is currently used. Snowman 13:08, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Help edit

I'm not very good with Chinese (so I couldn't read what you wrote about yourself, but you seem interesting) and I want to improve. I would like to learn some classic and vernacular (Mandarin). Would you mind helping me? It'd be best if you add me to MSNM. Thank you. 瀬人様 16:17, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for September 4 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Jumping the broom, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sexton (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:47, 21 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
