Speedy deletion nomination of Felix Vail

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Felix Vail requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Speedy deletion nomination of Felix Vail

Do not create articles about living people that are entirely negative in tone and not sourced. Wikipedia has a policy of verifiability and any negative information we use must be reliably sourced, and our articles must be balanced. Negative, unreferenced biographies of living people are not tolerated by Wikipedia and are speedily deleted. Under section G10 of the criteria for speedy deletion, the page has been nominated for deletion. Users who continue to create or repost such pages and images in violation of our biographies of living persons policy may be blocked from editing.

Level C (talk) 23:21, 4 September 2016 (UTC)Thank you.

I appreciate and have read the source!

Thanks again!

Level C (talk) 23:22, 4 September 2016 (UTC)Thank you - I appreciate and have read the source! So I'll just add it to the serial killer's article:

  • In 2016, the oldest prosecution and conviction of a suspected serial killer (Felix Vail) took place in Louisiana. He was convicted of murdering his wife, a 1962 death that was originally ruled an accidental drowning...

Africa Destubathon

Hi, thanks for your work so far! Can you do me a favour though and always add every entry you do to the main list here as well as the entries page, regardless if yet approved or not as that's the master list of all articles being done. It's just veyr time consuming for me to be judging the articles, trying to contribute myself and chasing up what people have done and filling it out for people each time. So if you can take care of that this would be a great help, there's some part filled out ones underneath so you just need to add country, article name and then you username. Thanks.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:33, 16 October 2016 (UTC)

OK! Will do! Level C (talk) 02:29, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

Prizes

Hi, having problems with that email address, couldn't read your message but I only caught a snippet in my notifications. if you'd like to donate a book to the prize fund let me know here and I'll add it to the prize and mention you as a donor.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:31, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

Sorry, all I did was thank you for this project. I'm not in it for prizes and I'm sorry I don't have a prize to donate.

I have enjoyed working so far. My email also said I purchased a book, which you probably already have. This is the book I purchased, for myself, "Administrative Subdivisions of Countries: A Comprehensive World Reference, 1900 Through 1998". It was just $5 on amazon.

Thanks again!!!Level C (talk) 18:05, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

I see haha. I only caught the top so when I saw you talking about a book you bought I thought it might be donor related. Hope it proves useful to you!♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:48, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

You've amended the entries page whilst I've been refactoring it ... I'll now make sure your edits are not lost. We're trying to keep the entry page size down, hence splitting it into six pages. --Tagishsimon (talk) 02:00, 23 October 2016 (UTC) OK. I understand. thank you! Sorry to make more work for you. Why I went from Stub to Start and back

7 articles unstubbed by myself. The rest I had updated to Class:Start but went back and updated the Talk pages for them as Stubs again because I thought to make something Class=Start was just a matter of having a page size with prose size larger than 1.5B or Stub would be based on the page size being below that, but maybe there's more to it. I couldn't find information on it and I didn't want to bother anyone with the question. Thus, I reverted pages I had marked as Start back to Stub.Level C (talk) 00:41, 31 October 2016 (UTC)

2016 Arbitration Committee elections voting is open

Hello, Level C. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

December 2016

Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Abaza family. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! Speedy deletion of Mohammad Ashraf Siddiqui

I have declined your attempt to speedily delete Mohammad Ashraf Siddiqui. Criteria for speedy deletion WP:A7 does not apply as the article makes a credible assertion of significance for the subject, which is all that is needed to overcome speedy deletion. However, I do feel the subject fails the general notability guidelines and so I have WP:Proposed deletion. Safiel (talk) 04:58, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

Okay, so unsuccessful but successful in the broader sense... Level C (talk) 10:39, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, ReferenceBot (talk) 00:29, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

Re: They didn't slow down

Hey, thanks for the note. I've blocked them indefinitely, deleted many of their pages (basically per ignore all rules, which I very rarely use in situations like that), and reverted many of their edits. Frankly, I regret not doing that earlier. Their response is to my actions are ... interesting (see their talk page). Graham87 14:25, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

Thank you! I was pulling my hair out with this craziness! Great news to start the week! Have a great one! BUT how do you have the patience for this? Their grammar is horrible and their response is so funny, so hilarious that it's sad. Once I read "there for" ... I knew I had entered The Twilight Zone. .. and "finally if you see a grammar error, fix it"??!!!! LOL. Level C (talk) 14:50, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
Oh yes, crazy! I don't know ... I'm just really determined about dealing with bad Wikipedia editors. Since you know Spanish, you might also be interested to look at their Spanish Wikipedia talk page; Google Translate makes a very amusing mess of it, but from that it sounds like they'r doing the same sorts of things over there! ...and last but not least, in November, 2016

I'm afraid to touch it but this should be added to it.. gotta run.. big trip today. Saving this reference for later. http://www.dailynewsegypt.com/2016/11/07/591141/ (I happily wrote on my talk page before my trip to Arizona)

'How did I know?' Can this be an example of that meaningless thing, "I guess I just know people", some people tend to say.

After my contribution as follows:

"An Egyptian artist's Photoshop art named "Falling" is the current Splash for the program."

Codename Lisa moved it to another section and rewrote it as follows:

"An Egyptian artist's Photoshop art named "Falling" is chosen as the splash screen for the program."

...and wrote in the the edit summary "Copy-edited the contribution, so that it does not look like throwing a crate of junk across the article." That hurt my feelings. I guess that's when I knew I had feelings. And then I thought, 'uhohoh, narcissism in the workplace?.' I don't see much difference between the two versions. Level C (talk) 17:24, 29 November 2016 (UTC)

See The Fable of the Rat. I tend to be a perfectionist- spend a lot of time on something but not this time. I'm just doing basic clean up to this talk page 'cause I'm hoping to figure out how to set up the best way for auto archives. --Level C (talk) 16:12, 3 January 2017 (UTC)

Conspiracy theory

There is extensive, longstanding talk page consensus that the insane wingnut evidence-free conspiracy theory has no place in Frank Marshall Davis' biography. It's discussed in its own page, where it belongs. If you think this consensus should be changed, you need to open a talk page discussion. NorthBySouthBaranof (talk) 17:26, 3 January 2017 (UTC)

OK. @NorthBySouthBaranof: I didn't know. Sorry about that. Level C (talk) 17:32, 3 January 2017 (UTC)

January 2017

Please be careful about what you say to people. Some remarks, such as your addition to User talk:Codename Lisa can easily be misinterpreted, or viewed as harassment. Wikipedia is a supportive environment, where contributors should feel comfortable and safe while editing. Thank you. O Fortuna!...Imperatrix mundi. 15:50, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

Sure I'll be careful. This is what I wrote:

Hi and Happy New Year! I noticed your signature does not follow how wikipedians sign. Everyone's signature is one line but yours takes multiple lines. for example:

"...review.

Best regards

User: your signature 15:02, 13 January 2017 (UTC)"

I'm sure you know that. Maybe you just like to be different but it's not the proper way to sign per style guidelines. Have a good day. Level C (talk) 14:57, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

You can see the guideline here. Signatures that take two or three lines clutter the talk page and give undue prominence to the user. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Signatures#Length Level C (talk) 15:45, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

Yes, and if you had been correct in your assesment, then it would not likely be veiwed as being problematic. But you were not, so it is. For further explanation, please see WP:DRRC. Hope that clarifies the situation. O Fortuna!...Imperatrix mundi. 15:59, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
Yes, with all due respect. This article that you have included here says that I should not delete the comment that the user removed off talk page, but CodeLisa did not remove it, you did. And in your summary you wrote to me "Stop being a Peasant and wasting her time!" Level C (talk) 16:03, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
Then surely you should report me? O Fortuna!...Imperatrix mundi. 16:38, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) You have misread the guideline. It does not require or even recommend that signatures be only one line. Its only specific rec regarding length is regarding, and I quote, "Signatures that take up more than two or three lines in the edit window" (emph. added). In case you are unfamiliar with how numeric comparisons work in English, I will tell you that that phrasing indicates that signatures of three lines or fewer are within the guideline. Codename Lisa's signature does not take more than three lines in the edit window, even if you count the blank line and the "Best regards" (which she does not always use in any case). In no way can this text be reasonably interpreted to mean that signatures should be only one line.
Also, note that WP:SIGNATURE is just a guideline, not policy. Of course, Codename Lisa's signature does not violate it, so that really doesn't matter.
You might be thinking "but shorter is still better, even if it's within the guideline." If that's what you're thinking, well, that is your right to hold that opinoin... but that is an individual style preference of yours. As in many areas of Wikipedia, even some that affect article contents such as WP:ENGVAR, Wikipedia does allow editors to use their individual preferred styles. And we are expected to respect each others' styles so long as they are within policies and guidelines.
I suggest you review WP:OTHERUSERS. It is not even a guideline, merely an essay, but I feel it has some good things to say that are relevant here. And then I suggest you spend your Wiki-time on more productive activities. Jeh (talk) 16:42, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
I thought it was a policy so then it is just my preference. I apologize. I misread and thank you for the note. I really thought I was helping. Level C (talk) 16:55, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
You need to apologize to Codename Lisa on her talk page.
I have with: "I misread the text in the signature guideline. I really thought it said "two or three lines" but the guideline actually says "more than two or three lines". Sorry about that. You can see the discussion about it on my talk page. Take care! Level C (talk) 18:33, 13 January 2017 (UTC)" Level C (talk) 18:39, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
Please also note that you are incorrect regarding the removal of your previous edit at Codename Lisa's talk page. If you will look at the talk page history you will see that Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi did not remove your comments there, as you accused above. The person who removed your comments, and called you a "peasant", was actually Gareth Griffith-Jones. Another case where you really needed to read more carefully before writing. I think an apology to Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi for your false accusation would be appropriate. Jeh (talk) 16:59, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
@Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi: Sorry. I wrongly accused you. Level C (talk) 17:18, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
I had to go back and reread all of this. Unbelievable that all these people jumped on me because I suggested someone shorten their signature. Wow! It reminds me of the time I worked at the prison and the short, Leprechaun warden thought everyone was a criminal, even the guards and teachers. She was unable to distinguish... she probably just needed some fresh air, really. Oh but there I go again - suggesting.. the eloquent peasant (talk) 10:19, 23 July 2017 (UTC)

Response to your message on my talk page

Thank you very much for the friendly message. I am not an expert by any means on Wikipedia and have little experience, so I will happily ask you for advice when I need as you offer. I have other articles (mostly Egypt related) I want to help with in Wikipedia. The Abaza Family page is an interest because I am from their strong-hold in Egypt and I love some of their literature and love Egyptian history in general. I was wondering why it interested you though? You did the best work on it, it was not very good before you worked on it. Seif Al-Sharqawy (talk) 06:58, 16 January 2017 (UTC)
