Source to Saab Spyker Automobiles

Sorry about that, must have forgotten it. But strangely enough, you added the source I got it from yourself when you added the line:

On 23 February 2010 Spyker Cars confirmed it has finalized the deal with General Motors Company to purchase Saab.

But then you can't write "was planned to be formed", because it has not been formed yet. "Was" means permanent information, but nothing is confirmed at this stage. Tell me what you mean. /Heymid (talk) 20:36, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

It was my intention to say that the name change was planned to happen on the date of the closure. Since that date has passed, I replaced "is" with "was". But you're right, it might be confusing so I removed the text and edited the first sentence a bit. Styath (talk) 20:50, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

ID-kaart

He Styath, ik zag dat je weer goed bezig wat met het ID-kaart stukje (ik heb er voor het eerst van leren citeren via "cite web"). Het begint behoorlijk gedegen te worden lijkt me zo langzamerhand. Even kort een 2 dingen in je recente wijzigingen anders gaan ze misschien weer een paar keer op en neer...

• heel verwarrend maar european council=council of the european union (en dus de auteur van PRADO). en dat is dus iets anders dan de Raad van Europa...
• ik heb een paar keer je "both countries being part of" gewijzigd in iets anders. Dat is omdat ik daar 2 dingen uit kan concluderen:

1 ... die onderdeel uitmaken van .. 2 ... omdat ze onderdeel uitmaken van... Mijn voorstel is steeds hoewel, maar ik kan ook met wat anders leven, als het maar uitsluitend mening 1 kan weergeven (misschien which countries are also part of). Oja dat over de council, je hebt inderdaad de European Council, de Council of Europe en de Council of the European Union. En dat zijn alle drie stuk voor stuk verschillende dingen. Bij PRADO staat "Council of the European Union" bovenaan de website. Styath (talk) 13:43, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

IJ (digraph)

Papiamentu

Please don't make things inaccurate in a quest for consistency. Papiamentu is spoken on Bonaire, not Papiamento. The Dutch language doesn't make a distinction between the two, referring to them both as "Papiaments". The orthography is quite different, and the pronunciation is somewhat different.—Kww(talk) 19:32, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Well it's there, you need to completely scroll down at ISO 3166-1: Newsletter VI-8. I'm relying on administrator The Tom's decision to rename the Sint Eustatius article to Saint Eustatius. I'm not saying that a Dutch island uses an English name, but the English name of whatever place is most commonly used on the English Wikipedia. Styath (talk) 20:16, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Jan van Beveren

I am unsure of where those sources are getting their information about Jan. I saw Jan 4 days out of the week and had a professional relationship with him, as he was our Director of Training for the Spindletop Select Soccer Club. I appreciate your concern about sharing only the truth about our beloved friend. Additionally, he is survived by his wife, who resides in Dallas, TX, and his son, however, I am unable to confirm, though I believe he resides in Dallas as well. Tomorrow, we will be hosting a memorial for him and his family. The funeral home that is handling his memorial is Broussards and they are located in Beaumont, TX. They have a website and have pending information on his services. Jan was loved dearly by all the girls whom he coached and mentored. I sincerely appreciate your close relationship with mister Van Beveren, as do I appreciate your longing to share the truth as well. I can only wish to find a way to verify your identity. Fortunately, I have found a source (another Dutch newspaper) stating that he did pass away in Beaumont, so I adjusted the article once again and replaced all occurences of Houston with Beaumont, TX. I wish you all the best in these difficult times.

There are some Wikipedia guidelines about image copyright and licensing we must adhere to. I think we cannot blatantly upload any image from the website you give due to these guidelines. If you own an image yourself that you are willing to upload, it would be greatly appreciated also by the Wikipedia community. Please refer to Wikipedia:Uploading images.

Time Zone Map

Well, most of my information began from research on what places use dst, and what places don't, I found this map[1] very helpful for that part, Then I researched on standard times world wide[2], however this map was only so helpful, it had all of russia listed entirely wrong, as they are on daylight savings time year round, thus listed as not changing times on the map of who uses dst or not. So I realized to make a good draft for my map, I had to research country by country, and find its various time zones, using help from several websites[3][4][5], once I tackled the big countries, it got easier, all of africa except nambia and morocco used standard time and that is were map two was extreemly helpful. I had made many mistakes, and had to redo the map three times, before having an almost perfect map, published, and made only subtle changes from then on. I'm not sure if I have answered the big question, I am going to re-research, and try to track down more of the the sources I used, just give me some time. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 23:01, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Yes a link is ok, but usually the guidelines seem to sway towards an article explaining itself, without relying heavily on other articles. With the ISS article, a google list of dictionary definitions helped to convince people of the validity of the first line. So it led from there. I can help find guidelines there. We need to take it to the talkpage, and get some help from outside that page, from experts. That helped in the ISS article too. Penyulap _talk 02:24, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

Well, apart from putting it on my userpage I actually tried to "export" the userbox to wikisource-en. But my knowledge of these things is too small to get it going. hoofdstad?

He Thayts (interessante naam zo)! Vraagje: in de infoboxen van de bijz. gemeenten viel me plotseling op dat er een hoofdstad stond (stond er vast altijd al, maar het viel me nu op met je wijzigingen...). Ik heb het idee dat dat niet zo is en zou niet weten waar het op gebaseerd is (aan de andere kant: misschien is er ook wel geen juridisch basis voor een provinciehoofdstad). Wat denk jij? Tja, daar zeg je me wat. Ik heb even gekeken en de plaatsen zijn als hoofdstad aangemerkt op het moment dat de infoboxes toegevoegd werden, in 2005, 2006 en 2007 (wel allemaal door verschillende gebruikers):

Op kaartjes van de CIA van de Nederlandse Antillen, zoals die hiernaast, staan Kralendijk en Philipsburg getekend. Wellicht alleen maar omdat het de grootste plaatsen zijn op de eilanden en niet per se hoofdsteden. Het zou kunnen zijn dat dit toendertijd wel geïnterpreteerd is als zijnde hoofdsteden, maar of dit juridisch klopt, geen idee. Wat maakt een plaats een hoofdstad van een eiland als dat eiland niet een land opzichzelf is maar een onderdeel van een land? Dat zou zo kunnen zijn als het eiland als bestuurlijke subdivisie is aangemerkt, zoals een provincie een subdivisie van Nederland is die zijn eigen hoofdstad heeft. Een gemeente daarentegen heeft weer geen hoofdstad (zou ook best vreemd zijn). Ik weet niet of de eilanden ieder zo'n subdivisie waren binnen de Nederlandse Antillen, equivalent met provincies zoals in Nederland, en of ze dus een hoofdstad hadden. Nu het bijzondere gemeenten zijn zou je kunnen zeggen dat de eilanden geen hoofdstad hebben, omdat het een soort van gemeenten zijn. Maar echte gemeenten zijn het eigenlijk niet (ze worden publieke lichamen genoemd). Ze zitten dan ook op hetzelfde niveau als de provincies, direct onder de rijksoverheid. Dat zou weer een argument kunnen zijn om de plaatsen wel aan te merken als hoofdsteden. Maar zoals ik al zei, hoe het juridisch zit weet ik niet. Op de site van de Rijksdienst Caribisch Nederland staat dat Oranjestad de hoofdstad (capital) van Sint Eustatius is ([9]) en The Bottom de hoofdstad (capital) van Saba ([10]). Bij Bonaire staat dit echter niet vermeld ([11]).  thayts t  13:37, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

re:Template:EU Dependencies

Hello Thayts!

Thanks for your message! I'm not really sure what I am refering to in my edit: I'm having a bit of a hard time remembering all the way back to March of 2011. I may have been refering to this edit or maybe a discussion on a different talk page, I can't be sure. You said, "Legally, the countries of Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten have the same status as the country of the Netherlands..." this is correct. But we need to be careful; which Netherlands are we refering to? The Kingdom of the Netherlands or the country of the Netherlands, they are not the same. So when you go on to say, "...but on the other hand those three Caribbean countries are still dependent on the Netherlands (regarding defense for example)." this becomes problematic because I am not sure which you refer to. The two terms are not equivilent. Even though the 4 countries are equal within the kingdom, one (the Netherlands) dominates the rest - but that does not alter the countries equal standing. Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten look only to the kingdom, legally, in matters of foreign affairs and defense, not the country of the Netherlands. So are they dependencies? Its certainly debate worthy, though I think not. They have equal standing, rather than a colony or a protectorate, so I don't beleive they are dependancies. I've been through this discussion a few times, especially in relation to the constituent countries of the UK and sometimes Denmark's unique policy of "Rigsfælleskabet".

I'm very interested to hear what you think about this, its an often overlooked topic.

Hi Thayts, please stop deleting my contributions in the "See also" section in Netherlands-related articles. The "See also" genenrally adds extra infomation to the article. For example, someone just read the article European Netherlands may want to know something about the Caribbean Netherlands, despite the Caribbean Netherlands itself being a completely different region. The links I have added in the "See also" section are important articles concerning the Netherlands, thus worth adding.
