PGA Tour Latinoamérica edit

I had removed a completely unsourced edit from PGA Tour Latinoamérica and you reverted it to add back the completely unsourced edit. Why is that? Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 02:52, 1 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the updates. Seems sources vary a little. Panama score don't add up correctly, might be worth a check. Nigej (talk) 09:44, 1 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

U.S. Women's Open edit

Thanks for fixing my mistake on the U.S. Women's Open page. I must not have been thinking straight when I made that mistake. Hopefully that kind of thing won't happen again. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 02:23, 3 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Oh no! edit

Hi! You are again! You are the only one in this case. Sorry I always use the standard. - Csurla (talk) 21:05, 4 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

There is no "standard". See WP:CATDEF. I use most important first to least important last, grouping similar categories together. Tewapack (talk) 21:20, 4 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

SA Open edit

On the SA Open page, under the Winners, "South African Open Championship" is used as a header twice. Is this a mistake, or is there a specific reason it was put there twice? Johnsmith2116 (talk) 01:01, 16 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hey edit

Thanks for being on top of the changes (Lake Iguaque). It was actually one of the few cosmetic changes by "Frietjes" that was ok. But anyway, good you keep an eye on it. All the best, Tisquesusa (talk) 01:40, 21 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Perth coverage edit

Would you happen to know if the upcoming E.T. tournament in Perth, Australia will be on television? I checked the TV schedule, and I didn't see Golf Channel with an entry for the Perth event. All it shows is that the LPGA event (also in Australia) will be shown live at 9:00 PM Eastern, and then immediately rerun at 2:00 AM. The 2:00 AM slot seems to be the suitable time slot that the Perth event would be shown. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 13:01, 12 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

It turns out that my cable box schedule isn't the only one with a problem with the air times, I saw that someone in social media made the same type of complaint. The schedule still shows that the LPGA event was to be rerun at 6:00 AM Eastern time, but that is wrong. That time slot is in fact the Perth event. PGA Tour prize money edit

Do you know where the information for the tournaments' prize money is listed? I don't know where the amounts on the 2017 PGA Tour Wikipedia page came from, but it runs out after next week. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 02:22, 20 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

[1] here. Tewapack (talk) 02:24, 20 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
That PGA site used to show the prize money, but as far as I know, it stopped showing it when they went with their new format. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 02:28, 20 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
It shows the total purse, winner's share is 18% of total for most events. Tewapack (talk) 02:38, 20 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
No problem. It's just that, the web pages on there for the individual tournaments themselves used to show the prize money at the very tope of the page, right next to the date of the tournament. Ever since they changed the look of it, they took away the prize money amounts. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 02:42, 20 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Brackets edit

Stop changing college basketball postseason brackets. The higher seed always goes on top as the home team — Preceding unsigned comment added by BHenne59 (talkcontribs) 03:39, 7 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • The brackets should flow logically, not flipping top and bottom to put the higher seed on top. Tewapack (talk) 14:20, 7 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

They do flow logically, it looks awful when the higher numerical seed is on top. Just because a team is in the top half of the bracket doesn't mean they should be automatically slotted into the top line, that's the fun of March Madness

Tom Hutchinson edit

Hi, I'm not really a golf buff but I found some hard evidence that Scottish golfer Tom Hutchinson (born 1877) was an older brother of Scottish golfer Jock Hutchison (born 1884). There's a different spelling there but they have the same parents, William and Helen, and are from the same city, St. Andrews. William and Helen are named on Tom Hutchinson's Cumberland Island gravestone. It says Tom Hutchinson was their oldest son. Jock Hutchison apparently sailed over to the US after the death of Tom.

The gravestone also spells Tom Hutchinson's name "Thomas Hutchison".

Bill Shankland edit

Hi Tewapack, I feel I must disagree with your reversion on the Bill Shankland arictle of "Lancashire County Cup Final" to "final", I believe it is a proper noun, as is, e.g. the FA Cup Final. Were it phrased as the "final of Lancashire County Cup" then a lower case f would be appropriate. Best regards DynamoDegsy (talk) 10:13, 8 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks edit

Thanks for finishing the things I missed on a couple of pages today. I was in a hurry and simply overlooked them.

Social media links edit

I sincerely thank you for guiding me with your edits as I am a very recent participator and need to learn. Apparently, it is not proper to list social media links on person's pages as you have removed links I have entered. Then this standard needs to be universally enforced. See J.J. Spaun on bottom of page. Also, J.J. Spaun's weight is obviously something not known to you personally! Be assured that it is more like 210 lbs rather than your completely unfounded correction of my edit. I am out there with the guys and my information is first hand - FYI.--Stefantast (talk) 17:18, 6 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

See WP:SOCIALMEDIA, WP:NOTSOCIAL, WP:Twitter-EL - I've removed the link on Spaun's page. For weights, see WP:RELIABLE - your opinion or personal knowledge is not a reliable source, his PGA Tour profile is. Also, if you are connected to these or other golfers professionally, then you should be familiar with WP:CONFLICT. Tewapack (talk) 20:39, 6 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
I understand the obvious concerns regarding COI. Please note that I know many professional golfers but am not necessarily connected to them in a way that causes COI. Also, the language is ....can lead to COI....; I hope you agree that by listing references for all edits (which I have done) as well as avoiding any beautifying of all my edits COI becomes a non issue. The nationality correction you made is a bit confusing to me as Xander Schauffele has never represented the USA but does indeed have multiple passports/nationalities from birth. Thus, under the nationality clause his choice as to what side to play on has not yet been made.--Stefantast (talk) 20:56, 6 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
He's listed on the PGA Tour site and OWGR site as American, hence the nationality in his article. Again, reliable sources standard apply. Tewapack (talk) 21:10, 6 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Samanatha Giles edit

Hi,

Why are you editing the Samantha Giles (golfer) page continuely with incorrect information? For example the Junior European Open in 2011 she won outright and didn't tie with anyone as my reference points out.

Kindly,

The World Amateur Golf Ranking site lists both as winners [2]. Your reference was to only the 2010 event. I've found a ref [3] that shows that Giles did win outright in a playoff. Tewapack (talk) 16:44, 18 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Zurich Classic on the PGA Tour website edit

I noticed a couple of odd things on the prepared leaderboard for this week's Zurich Classic on the PGA Tour website. First, some non American players are marked as American. Any idea why? And second, some of the players are missing their flags. Is that intentional, do you know?

Commas edit

Hi there. Any specific reason commas need to be used instead of the dot (•) to separate years in an infobox, such as at Kent State Golden Flashes men's golf? I'm just making sure there's an actual MOS requirement since I've seen it both ways. Thanks! --JonRidinger (talk) 18:23, 6 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Comma is neater, takes less space, and line-breaks better. Tewapack (talk) 18:25, 6 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
OK thanks. I actually don't think it looks neater (the "•" separates the years better visually, at least for me), but the line breaks does make sense. --JonRidinger (talk) 18:28, 6 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship edit

When this event becomes an alternate tournament on the PGA Tour next year, do you know which WGC event it will be opposite of? The WGC Match Play, or the WGC Mexico Championship (most likely one of those two)? Maybe the WGC Bridgestone Invitational or the WGC HSBC Chamopions instead? Or even possibly the Open Championship? Johnsmith2116 (talk) 20:35, 23 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

According to the article it's the Match Play. Tewapack (talk) 22:16, 23 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Challenge Tour Grand Final edit

Hi Tewapack,

Greetings for the day!

If you check below wikipedia article, you can see that the link of etihad.com is cited as 'External Links' with 'Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix' text: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abu_Dhabi_Grand_Prix

I have done that way to link http://www.omanair.com/en/about-us/press-releases/oman-air-become-presenting-sponsor-for-nbo-golf-classic-grand-final as 'External Link'.

It would be helpful to me to know the reason of removing the above omanair link from 'External Links" heading?

Rajcurator (talk) 10:53, 5 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

It didn't belong in "External links" , it should be a reference. Since there are already two references for the same fact, a third is unnecessary. Tewapack (talk) 15:03, 5 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

French Open edit

Would you happen to know if there were any American announcers added to the mix last week when Golf Channel showed the French Open? I ask because I didn't get a chance to see it. This week, the Irish Open telecast on Golf Channel added a couple of American announcers, so, I thought that maybe the French Open last week may have done the same thing, being that they were showing so much coverage of it. Senior LPGA Championship edit

Thanks for cleaning up that page. On the parrage in the info box, I simply had an oversight and forgot to change it from 72 holes. But on the link to the article, why it had "217" in it instead of "2017", I have no idea. It must have already been like that at the time that I put that in there. Telecast times for the Bridgestone edit

Do you happen to know if Golf Channel will move up their telecast times for the Bridgestone event on Thursday and Friday? I ask this because, the tee times have been moved up very early, but the telecast times have stayed the same, as far as I know. So, either Golf Channel will need to move up the telecast times, or they will end up showing the first two rounds on a four or five hour delay. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 05:21, 2 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

No idea. Tewapack (talk) 05:39, 2 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Well, Golf Channel is still advertising the telecast for the same times as before. So, it appears they are going to be showing it on a delay. It's disappointing, but not unexpected. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 22:15, 2 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Now I heard Golf Central mention that coverage will start at 9:00 AM, which contradicts what was mentioned earlier. So, I don't know what to think. But, if they did decide to bring the coverage on at 9:00 AM, that would interrupt coverage of the Women's British Open, which is supposed to go until 1:00 PM. Maybe they would put one of the tournaments on NBC Sports Network? It's only a thought. Well, we'll have to wait and see what they do. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 09:54, 3 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Women's British Open edit

When I added that information on the 2017 in golf page, initially I found an edit conflict, as I was preparing that information when you had apparently beaten me to it (hence the edit conflict). After I found your edit, I had gone back in to finish up with what was going to be my own script. It hadn't occurred to me that you had said something similar. My mistake. Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship edit

I checked my local TV listings for this upcoming Champions Tour tournament, but I couldn't find any coverage of it on Golf Channel. Do you know if maybe it's not going to be on TV? Johnsmith2116 (talk) 08:18, 4 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Did you find any coverage of this event in your TV listings? Maybe a network other than Golf Channel will be showing it (although that's not likely)? Johnsmith2116 (talk) 21:18, 11 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Evian coverage edit

I'm not sure which schedule to believe for Sunday's coverage. Our cable TV box schedule for Sunday shows the Evian will be on from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Golf Channel, and 12:00 to 1:30 on NBC (all of which of course would be tape delayed by two hours, which has been common for Golf Channel/NBC's final round of the Evian in recent years). But, the LPGA Tour website contradicts that, showing that Sunday's Golf Channel portion will be from 5:30 to 11:00 AM, not 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Do you know which one is correct? Johnsmith2116 (talk) 06:55, 15 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

No idea. Tewapack (talk) 14:45, 15 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
It looks like Golf Channel will have it LIVE from 5:30 to 11:00, then NBC (presumably) will have it on a 1 hour DELAY from 12:00 to 1:30. .. I'm watching it now, and the word "live" is on Golf Channel. But surely there is no way that the NBC portion can be live, because, a 1:30 Eastern time finish is 7:30 in France, and that would simply be too late to finish at this time of year, because it would be too dark to finish at that time. So, the most likely is that it will be a 1 hour delay with the NBC portion. That probably also would explain why there is a one hour gap between the finish of the Golf Channel portion and the beginning of the NBC portion. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 09:40, 17 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico edit

Even though it's six months away, there's the possibility that the PGA Tour events in these locations in March could be canceled for one year because of the hurricanes, either because of damage, or simply because it would look bad to have a golf tournament when people are trying to rebuild their homes. Hopefully neither tournament would be canceled for 2018, but it might not be surprising if cancelations happen. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 10:16, 21 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Australian Masters edit

Do you know if the Australian Masters is coming back? I didn't hear anything. I went into my cable box settings to check the golf schedule, and guess what I found? I found that Golf Channel is scheduled to show the Australian Masters, December 7th through 10th! In other words, after this week's Australian PGA Championship, next week the Australian Masters is supposed to be played (the first since 2015), even though we haven't heard anything, and even though the PGA Tour of Australasia's schedule ends after this week, for the year. ... Do you think that the wrong information has been put into our cable box schedule? Or is there the possibility that the event could be played after all? Johnsmith2116 (talk) 13:26, 28 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

If it isn't on the PGA Tour of Australasia's website, then I doubt very much if it is being played. Tewapack (talk) 16:08, 28 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Well, I found even another strange thing. As I was scanning through the cable box listings, it didn't show a 4th round scheduled for that Saturday night. It only shows the Australian Masters scheduled for three nights, Wednesday through Friday nights of next week. .. Whatever Golf Channel actually ends up showing from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM Eastern time on those nights, we'll have to see. But surely it can't be the Australian Masters if the tournament is not even being played. Whose fault it is for the mistaken listing, who is to say? Hopefully one day though the Australian Masters will make a return. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 03:04, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

One more note about that week: Golf Channel is going to show the Joburg Open on 3 to 4 hour delay each of the first three rounds. Only the final round will be shown live. (At least that's what my cable box schedule is showing. Although, it's the same cable box that says there is going to be an Australian Masters.) Mystery solved. That spot in the cable box's TV schedule that said the Australian Masters was going to be on Golf Channel, is showing the movies "The Greatest Game Ever Played", and "Seven Days In Utopia". Johnsmith2116 (talk) 05:35, 7 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
