Userpage

edit

If you truly believe you have adequate references to make your userpage into an article, you can ask to let someone "userfy" it, move it to a space meant for draft articles. I mentioned this at the AFD i created. I only know you cant have your editing userpage be an article or draft article. thanks for trying to understand the process here. i have nothing against you trying to create an article (i havent checked refs and have not even tried to determine if you meet notability standards here), it just needs to be done properly. and the images are of course pretty cool, if they are truly being given up copyright free they can stay at the commons for sure as very professional shots.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 17:28, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

If the WP:AFD allows for it, its easy to "userfy" your information. I wont do it if consensus is we shouldnt, but if allowed, i will do so for you. it simply consists of creating a "sandbox" page associated with your userpage, cutting and pasting the information from your userpage into it, and making sure the page is not categorized, so that the sandbox page doesnt appear in the category tree. these pages are automatically not indexed by Google, so no one can accuse you of using your sandbox (see WP:Sandbox for what it looks like) to sneak in an article, at least for a while. however, if you ONLY edit your own article (i assume you are the model, or acting on behalf of her), you will consistently be labelled as a WP:Single purpose account. since you are here, please consider editing other articles as well as this one (it can be very habit forming, and its intellectually stimulating and a good skill to learn). Also, if you are allowed to userfy the content, but cannot bring it up to article notability, you cant just leave it in your sandbox indefinitely. the content of your userpage cannot be deleted unless the account is deleted, which can be done to SPA's that are not editing in good faith. however, even if your account was deleted, and the info as well, if at any point in future you became obviously notable, there would be no prejudice to creating an article again, by yourself or someone else. The article would have to be rewritten entirely in any case, but an overly promotional article is NOT the grounds for deletion, only notability is considered. by the way, if you are considered "borderline" notable here (in other words, an article is not REQUIRED to be here, say as with Taylor Swift, obviously a famous person) AND the article on you is used almost entirely to disparage you, or you yourself decide that you really dont want the article for privacy concerns (again, this ONLY if you are not that well known), an administrator can decide to do a courtesy deletion of your information. We can even completely delete information from former versions of articles if its highly personal and truly damaging. so you see, article deletion and the review of such is a two edged sword, which can sometimes "hurt" a person being written about, and sometimes aid them. I am pretty sure the article will be deleted, but that you wont be banned from editing. try adding neutral sources to an article whose subject you are familiar with but have no personal connection to.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 17:04, 10 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

An article about you

edit

Hi Tamikko, and welcome. You should see our page on autobiographies for why we really discourage people from writing about themselves. If you meet our notability guidelines for people, someone else may write an article on you, and at that point, you can help make sure what's there is accurate. We say that an article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing.

If you think we should have an article on you, you could leave a message with WikiProject Fashion, a group of Wikipedia editors interested in fashion, including models. There will be people there with experience writing about models that may be able to help you. I hope this experience hasn't been too discouraging for you. We're glad you're here, really! --BDD (talk) 17:35, 14 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
