Franklin River

edit

Hey rather than making mess of tops of articles I personally prefer disambiguation pages - will do now. cheers SatuSuro 04:38, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks!

That solution is much more elegant. I have been copying the "style guidelines" of others, but can't assume they are correct. I will go the the source as you suggested.

Thanks, again. Sxfranklin 05:33, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Take care its a goldfishbowl jungle out there (wikipedia at its driest times) - waterproofs are well worth wearing. There are at least another four Franklin rivers in Australia - however some editors seem to assume that it was the only one - the more the merrier I say - cheers SatuSuro 07:52, 9 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Commercial use of Image:Panetworks logo.gif

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Panetworks logo.gif, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Panetworks logo.gif has a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission, which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3). While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Panetworks logo.gif itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 23:16, 13 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of PassAlong Networks

edit

PassAlong Networks, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that PassAlong Networks satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PassAlong Networks and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of PassAlong Networks during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. SchuminWeb (Talk) 16:19, 15 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

California Chess Congress of 1858

edit

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article California Chess Congress of 1858, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Panetworks logo.gif)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Panetworks logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 05:20, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

nice work in Selim Franklin, and about Franklin House articles

edit

Hi, i find my way to your work by my editing at Franklin House disambiguation page. Several years ago you had added many entries there, which were eventually deleted by other editors. I am restoring them and will work to start articles about the separate houses, because they do seem to be valid wikipedia topics. Other editors were correct, technically, i guess, that the disambiguation page entries weren't formatted perfectly, but it seems harsh and unreasonable to simply delete them all. Anyhow, i have enough experience with disambiguation pages and historic site articles to be pretty sure i can get it all fixed up now. Thank you for your earlier work in establishing the list of notable Franklin House places!

And, nice work on the Selim Franklin article. Cheers, --doncram 14:33, 5 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
