Chatura has become a popular household name in Sri Lanka after joining Ada Derana in 2005 with his weekly programmes including the highly rated “Wada Pitiya” which has become the leading show on political discussion airing on Tuesday’s at 9.45pm on TV Derana while “Derana Aruna”, a comprehensive one-and half hour news analysis programme, brings Chatura to Sri Lankan homes every weekday at 6.30 a.m.

Chatura also explored different parts of the world in the travel and living programme “Yathra”[4], exposing cultures and traditions and bringing the world closer to Sri Lanka. He also hosts the religious hour “Sangayana”[5] on TV Derana on Poya days.

He joined Ada Derana[6] as a Trainee Production Assistant and swiftly worked his way up to Production Assistant & reporter and thereafter Production Coordinator. In 2007 he was made an Assistant Producer of Ada Derana and went on to become a Producer one year later.

In 2009, Chatura became Senior Producer and was made Executive Producer in 2011.

He is now a news bulletin Producer at Ada Derana and the weekly Business News while continuing his role as a leading Presenter and Anchor in the news field.

Dubbing

Utilizing his unique talents, Chatura also dubbed voices for various radio and television dramas including “Palu Mandiya”, “Sherlock Holmes” for Hiru FM, “7 Kanisama” for Sirasa FM, “Veralu Mal Suwanda” for VFM, “Thunweni Yamaya” for FM Derana, “Praveena”, cartoons including “Giripura atto” and the ‘Nakul’ of the “Maha Gedara” television drama on Sirasa TV.

Education

Chatura completed his primary education in Sri Sumangala College, Panadura following which he joined Thurstan College, Colombo 7 to complete his secondary education. He has specialized in a degree in Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering.

He has also followed several certificate courses in Media, Business Journalism and Information Technology.
