Westwood One edit

Hi Suzy, I'm curious about your edits to List of podcasting companies. You have three edits here and all of them relate to adding Westwood One to the list, without a reference and despite the fact that the article on the company doesn't even use the word "podcast". Do you have a relationship with Westwood One? ♠PMC(talk) 21:24, 24 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello! Thank you for your note. Yes, I work for Westwood One, and I lead marketing for Westwood One Podcast Network: http://westwoodonepodcasts.com. I am trying to add our Podcast Network to this list as we have many large podcasts in our roster and we are very passionate about the podcast space. I can add more detail about our podcast network to the company page if that is helpful.

Hi Suzy, thanks for your openness and quick response. Before you do any other editing related to Westwood One, you need to read and understand our conflict of interest guideline: Wikipedia:Conflict of interest (COI). Per that guideline, you are required to disclose your COI (see the section labeled "How to disclose a COI") on your userpage, and on the page of any related articles you wish to make changes to.
As an editor with a COI, you are strongly discouraged from editing any related pages yourself. Instead you should go to the talk page of any affected article and use the {{request edit}} template to request an edit (if you click the link in there, it'll take you to the instructions page for how to use that template). That will flag the page, and eventually an interested editor will come by and assess the edit and either make the changes or reject them.
I have this page on my watchlist, so if you have any questions (now or in the future) feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer them. ♠PMC(talk) 21:50, 24 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Side note: please indent comments by adding : to the start of each paragraph so the discussion is threaded. One more : than the person before you (so your reply to this should start with ::). You can sign comments on talk pages with four tildes, like so: ~~~~. This will leave your username and a timestamp so people can quickly see who said what and when. ♠PMC(talk) 21:53, 24 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
Understood. Thank you very much for the insight, I'm new to editing on Wikipedia and truly appreciate your help and guidance! SuzySchultz (talk) 21:58, 24 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
No problem. I corrected the placement of your COI template at the list's talk page :) I would recommend requesting the changes to the Westwood One article first, using Template:Request edit (click on that link and scroll a little to see "How to use" and then follow that). That way it'll be more clear why the page belongs on the podcast list in the first place and the edit is less likely to be rejected. ♠PMC(talk) 22:31, 24 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
