File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Fullsizeoutput 1c92.jpeg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nthep (talk) 17:23, 14 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

We can sort out the information on this image and File:Robert reed headshot in france.jpeg but you need to say where the images came from. You can only place a creative commons licence on a file if you are the copyright holder of the original image. If File:Robert reed headshot in france.jpeg is from [1] the unless you took the original photo. Otherwise it can be used under the WP:Non-free content criteria which just means adding some other information. Nthep (talk) 18:30, 14 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Robert reed headshot in france.jpeg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Robert reed headshot in france.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. hiàn 20:44, 14 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

THIS IS NOT A COPYRIGHT PHOTO. I AM ROBERTS WIFE AND TOOK THIS PHOTO IN FRANCE. I GAVE IT TO THE IOVANNE FUNERAL PALOR TO USE IN HIS OBIT AND THE PHOTO WAS PICK_UP ON THE WEB. I DONT KNOW HOW TO GO BACK AND CHANGE THE STATUS TO NOT COPYRIGHTED. PLEASE DO NOT DELETE. THANK YOU Susanwhetstone (talk) 19:52, 15 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

It's ok, it's is not going to be deleted now. As it's your photo you are entitled to licence it in the way you originally did but as it has previously been published elsewhere you will have to confirm your ownership of the copyright by email. Please see WP:CONSENT and send an email with the appropriate wording to permissions-en wikimedia.org. I appreciate it appears bureaucratic but it is to protect your rights as the copyright holder. Orphaned non-free image File:Robert reed headshot in france.jpeg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Robert reed headshot in france.jpeg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 03:37, 10 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest

edit

Hello, Susan. I came upon the article for Robert Reed as I was fixing spelling mistakes, and then began to learn more about him. Interesting guy! What I also noticed, though, was that the article was written in a rather favorable way (favorable to him, I mean), and then I looked more closely at the authorship.

It appears that you not only created the article, but made about 80 of the some 116 edits to date, contributing (according to a tool I use) 74% of the content. That would all be cool (extremely cool, in fact), if you weren't his wife (well, widow). I see that you mentioned the relationship above.

Have you read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest yet? In particular, the sections WP:DISCLOSE and WP:COISELF seem to apply. I hope you will self-declare your COI status (even though you do not appear to edit very actively these days). I am going to place a tag on the article's talk page, so that other editors can be aware of the apparent COI. It may be that others will make (possibly drastic!) edits to the article. I hope you'll understand if that happens.

Thanks. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 21:47, 19 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand how to use this part of Wiki or even how to contact you. How do I self declare? Do I write something on the Robert Reed Wiki page?Susanwhetstone (talk) 13:30, 20 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Susan. Thanks for your response (I didn't expect you to be by so soon.) Did you read the links I provided, especially the one at WP:DISCLOSE? You should be able to follow the steps (esp. #1 and #3) provided there. If you still have trouble, I can help you (or even do Step 1 for you myself). Maybe take another look, and let me know how it goes.
And you've successfully contacted me simply by replying to my comment. I have added your Talk page to my watchlist, so I get semi-automatically notified of any activity here. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 21:32, 20 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

John - I believe I completed steps 1 and 3 of the COI and in the future will includ COI in each edit summary. Thank you for your help.2601:18A:C502:B260:7086:EFB6:E4B1:A83E (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 13:57, 21 February 2021 (UTC) Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page).2601:18A:C502:B260:7086:EFB6:E4B1:A83E (talk) 14:05, 21 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

John - I don't know what I did but I am now getting messages that I send to you being sent to me. I think I mistakenenly created a new user page. Can you help me fix this?SusanwhetstoneSusanwhetstone (talk) 14:25, 21 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Susan. The new user page you made looks okay to me. I have adjusted the template by deleting some of the extra stuff you had pasted there, but everything's fine now. I can't say anything about those messages, as I don't know what you did or didn't do. If you need more help about this, you can just write here, but as far as I'm concerned, we've covered everything regarding COI stuff. Best regards, — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 18:52, 21 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
