Speedy deletion nomination of Alexa Stone and the Lake of Fire

edit

Hello Super star02ca,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Alexa Stone and the Lake of Fire for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Gareth E Kegg (talk) 22:42, 18 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Alexa Stone and the Lake of Fire

edit

The article Alexa Stone and the Lake of Fire has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable book claimed to be released on Dec 18th 2012. I can't find it, but if it does appear on Amazon later (I'm on UK time), it still won't be notable immediately. Probably self-published. Unreferenced, and I can't find any. There is a fictional Alexa Stone played by Megan Fox on TV, so this could possibly even be a hoax.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Notability

edit

Hi! I noticed that you tried to add the book Alexa Stone and the Lake of Fire to Wikipedia. However it doesn't seem to pass WP:NBOOK in that it hasn't received coverage in any sources that Wikipedia would consider to be reliable and show notability. Even though the book does exist, existing doesn't extend notability in and of itself.Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 06:06, 19 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

I wish the author luck, but would really recommend getting with a regular publisher if at all possible. They can give far more publicity than a private individual can generate. On which point, Wikipedia is not the place to try to publicise the book. We are here to record things that have made it to notability (and those that have been there and slipped down the other side...). We are not here to help on the way to success, other than by wishing good luck. It's a sorry fact that very few self-published works make it. This might prove to be an exception. Time will tell. I do advise you to read WP:NBOOK and WP:RS (about reliable independent sources). If you can meet those, you should be OK. Please note that possible future success is no guarantee of an article. We need to know that it is there, not that someone has hopes for it. If it were an off the wall excursion by someone like J.K. Rowling or Barack Obama, it would be guaranteed at least a place in their article. For a first book by a new author, you have to really pull out all the stops in terms of referencing. Amazon listing only indicates existence. It's independent of the author or Amazon sources that are reliable (not the man next door's wife's cousin's blog, the author's site, or any other site that's suspiciously new looking and not mentioning any other books, anything in a wiki, anything on Wordpress, Facebook, YouTube or MySpace, and so on).
