Welcome

edit

Hello, Sunil Kumar Pathela, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you created was Sunil Kumar Pathela, which appears to be an article about yourself. This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

The page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type helpme on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Sesamevoila (talk) 10:48, 22 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Sunil Kumar Pathela

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sunil Kumar Pathela requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Sesamevoila (talk) 10:48, 22 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Kunwar Amar, you may be blocked from editing. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 10:52, 22 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia is not for writing about yourself

edit

Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia, but it is not a place like Myspace or Facebook for people to write about themselves. It is a different sort of site, a project to build an encyclopedia, so it is not for self-promotion or any kind of promotion, it is selective about subjects for articles, and writing about oneself is strongly discouraged, for reasons explained at Wikipedia is not about YOU and Wikipedia:Autobiography. The links in the Welcome message at the top of this page will tell you more about Wikipedia. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 11:01, 22 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Please stop

Your edits to Himansh Kohli and Kunwar Amar have been reverted. You cannot take over articles about other people to write about yourself.

User pages are for the volunteers who are here to build an encyclopedia to say something about themselves and their Wikipedia work, if they choose, to help communication within the project. They are not for CVs or for any substantial content... that is unrelated to Wikipedia.

I presume you are the same person as Sunil Kumar(Lovelypathela) (talk · contribs). Please choose one account and use only that one, to avoid suspicion of sockpuppetry. JohnCD (talk) 11:22, 22 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Sunil Kumar Pathela. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

 • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
 • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
 • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
 • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. DVdm (talk) 11:38, 22 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice that Sunil Kumar Pathela, a page that you created, has been tagged for deletion. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

 • It is unambiguous vandalism or an obvious hoax. (See section G3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please do not introduce inappropriate pages to Wikipedia; doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.
 • It covers a topic on which we already have an article - :{article}. (See section A10 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at :{article}, or to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. You are free to edit the content of User:Sunil Kumar Pathela during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Qwyrxian (talk) 13:30, 23 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked temporarily from editing for appearing to only be using Wikipedia to promote yourself. Furthermore, you're disrupting other articles while you do that (by altering them to include your name instead). And the article you finally created had your name, but almost all of the details, and all of the references, were about someone. The idea is very simple: if you are notable enough for an article, someone else will create one about you. People are pretty much never successful at creating articles about themselves, because they can't be neutral and provide the needed references. If you actually have some interest in Wikipedia beyond self-promotion, ask for an unblock, and we can talk about how to proceed.. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text , but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.
