  Guideline and policy news

  • Following a request for comment, F7 (invalid fair-use claim) subcriterion a has been deprecated; it covered immediate deletion of non-free media with invalid fair-use tags.
  • Following a request for comment, page movers were granted the delete-redirect userright, which allows moving a page over a single-revision redirect, regardless of that redirect's target.

  Technical news

  • When you move a page that many editors have on their watchlist the history can be split and it might also not be possible to move it again for a while. This is because of a job queue problem. (T278350)
  • Code to support some very old web browsers is being removed. This could cause issues in those browsers. (T277803)

Βlock editing

This user wants to delete this article, because thinks that: No claim or evidence of notability for this minor direct-to-video movie. The article has been unsourced for more than twelve years, so it seems unlikely that it will ever meet WP:GNG. This user has a war to me and I want to request the block editing.— Preceding unsigned comment added by General electric p30ch (talkcontribs) 2021-04-14T07:14:23 (UTC)

@General electric p30ch: you can report edit warring to WP:ANEW. stwalkerster (talk) 17:39, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi! AWB and help

Hi Stwalkerster. Forgive me if I disturb you. I've seen that you own a bot and have knowledge of bot C modules and use AWB. I am an administrator in vec.wiki (here), the Wikipedia in the Venetian language (Venice). I've been using AWB a lot lately and we're looking for help fixing bugs on pages, to uncover secrets on how to make the most of this technology and find a way to welcome new users who make their first edit and register. Could you give me a hand? Thank you very much in advance for your reply, I hope it is positive. Again sorry for the disturb! A big hello from Venice! --Fierodelveneto (talk) 19:16, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

@Fierodelveneto: I very rarely use AWB these days, and I haven't actually looked at the source code for it in a very long time. While I probably could help you (if I had time!), there are definitely others who both have more experience and more knowledge about AWB who would be much better suited to helping you out. As I've just alluded to, I'm also lacking available time to devote to the Wikimedia projects at the moment in a meaningful way - also a reason I'd prefer to hand off to someone with more experience! Sorry for not being as much help as I want to be, but it's not fair on you to be waiting for my schedule to clear somewhat. stwalkerster (talk) 17:45, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
Hello, in the meantime, thank you for your kind reply. However, if you can point me to someone who can help me in this, I would be very grateful, because I can't find serious people who can help us and who are available! Thank you very much again. A big hello.--Fierodelveneto (talk) 18:03, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
I don't have anyone specific in mind, but it might be worth putting a note on WT:AWB, WP:VPT, or WP:BOTN. stwalkerster (talk) 11:50, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
