Speedy deletion nomination of Johnny Martyn

edit

A tag has been placed on Johnny Martyn requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the Johnny Martyn article, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later, and under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribute Share-Alike."

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question at the "Help Desk". You can also leave a message on my talk page. Voceditenore (talk) 21:06, 9 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your addition to Johnny Martyn has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Please do not keep re-adding the copyright text and do not remove the reference Voceditenore (talk) 10:53, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Using an alternate account (which this appears to be) to re-add material removed by another editor [1], [2] is sock puppetry. Don't do it, please. It's not only dishonest, it will also get you blocked. Voceditenore (talk) 12:53, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 48 hours in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for violating copyright policy by copying text into Wikipedia from another source without verifying permission. You have been previously warned that this is against policy. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. Please take this opportunity to be sure you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to quote non-free text. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Another warning - Jean Van den Bosch

edit

Before you were blocked, your edits [3] to Jean Van den Bosch removed the references and all the categories and formatting. This is considered vandalism. You also inserted the information that he is Dutch, without providing a reference, in violation of Wikipedia's policy on the biographies of living persons. You cannot simply make up information just because his name sounds Dutch. If you have read it somewhere, then you must provide a reference to a reliable source. I have now reverted your edits to this article. Do not revert blindly once you have come off your block and under no circumstances are you to remove references and categories. All material in quotes must have a reference. All biographies of living people must have reliable sources or they are subject to immediate deletion. You are welcome to expand and edit the article, but not to remove references or violate the policy on living persons. Considering this edit of yours [4], I strongly suggest you also read WP:OWN. If you don't start observing the various policies and guidelines which have been repeatedly pointed out to you, I'm afraid you are going to end up permanently blocked from editing.
