November 2021 edit

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 00:08, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Requested username:

Request reason:

Not trying to advertise but only trying to provide accurate information because the information on the organizations page was incorrect. I’m the communications director and only want correct information available online. So I was trying to contribute the correct information for the organizations page. I have asked that my username be changed to a personal username so I can be unblocked and provide the correct information. Unitedstatesponyclubs (talk) 02:14, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Your choice of new username seems to be acceptable. Regarding the block itself, please review conflict of interest and paid editing and tell us how your edits will be consistent with those policies, as well as any other edits you might make as a general contributor. Wikipedia primarily summarizes what independent reliable sources state about a topic, not what it wants to say about itself. If there is incorrect information in the article about your organization, we want to know what it is, but this must be done in the proper manner. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 09:54, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I would like to change this to a personal username as noted above so I can provide correct and accurate information. I understand now the process about conflict of interest and have read an administrator's advice to submit edit requests on the talk page of the article rather than edits directly to the article. I am new to wikipedia as a an editor account so I am still learning the correspondence and how to contribute properly. I am not by any means a paid editor or compensated. If by paid meaning I cannot edit the page for the organization of which I work - even if the information is wrong - I understand that and will use the edit requests AND provide links. I simply wish to just provide the accurate information, because I know the information is wrong for a fact. For example the page says there is a graduation age of 25 for US Pony Clubs but there is no longer a graduation age, as it is open to all ages now. There is also a note about a Horsemasters Program, which no longer exists. I wish to update information like this because it is confusing to the general public and inaccurate. It is not a promotion, simply facts and can be supported with cited links. Can I request these changes while I am blocked or do I need to be unblocked to request these changes for this page? Should I just create a new personal account or can you make this account my personal account? I am also happy to contribute to wikipedia in other ways where I see information that I can provide other valid source links etc. to. I just want the information to be correct so please let me know if this explanation is valid or what next steps to take. Thank you Unitedstatesponyclubs (talk) 14:07, 23 November 2021 (UTC)

Accept reason:

I have renamed your account as requested. Unblocking subject to strict conformity with our policy and guidance relating to editing by employees, as outlined above. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:23, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Further to the above: as an employee you are considered here to be a paid contributor – it doesn't really matter whether or not you are being paid specifically to edit here. Please, before you do anything else, make appropriate disclosure. Here's some boiler-plate text on how to do that: you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Ssmithuspc. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Ssmithuspc|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Once that's done you can make edit requests using {{request edit}} on the talk-page of the article; please remember to cite solid independent reliable sources for any proposed change. I'm watching that page and will try to help if I can. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:35, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your help. Ssmithuspc (talk) 16:37, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Help edit

I am just trying to provide the most accurate information to a page for the organization I work for. The information that was previously on the page was out of date and incorrect. Why am I being blocked? Unitedstatesponyclubs (talk) 02:10, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Help me! edit

Please help me with... Just trying to provide accurate information for a page that is outdated and has inaccurate / old information. I am being blocked and the revisions I made were deleted. I work for this organization and I am the communications director, so the updates I made are the most accurate and up to date. It does no good to have inaccurate information on the page about the organization and is confusing. I am not trying to solicit or advertise - only provide the right information. Please tell me how to submit these changes. Unitedstatesponyclubs (talk) 02:22, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

When and if your unblock and rename request is accepted, your first step needs to be adding a disclosure on your user page showing that you understand Wikipedia's expectations from editors who have a conflict of interest.
As an editor with a conflict of interest, you are expected to make {{edit request}}s on the talk page of the article rather than edits directly to the article. When you request a change, be sure to include suitable published sources so the editor handling it can verify the information and include it in the changes so future readers can verify it as well. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 03:37, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Please also be patient; your request might take some time to be processed. Wikipedia is an entirely volunteer-based community, even its administrators. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:35, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
