Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:DamienPlessis.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 11:24, 31 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Jordy Brouwer

edit

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Jordy Brouwer, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. AfD nomination of Damien Plessis

edit

I have nominated Damien Plessis, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Damien Plessis. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. An image that you uploaded, Image:Leto.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Alexf42 12:54, 12 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Georgi Kinkladze

edit

I reverted your edits to Georgi Kinkladze as the information you added pertained not to Kinkladze, but to the similarly named Georgian player Georgi Kiknadze, formerly of SC Freiburg. Oldelpaso (talk) 13:35, 17 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Steve Finnan

edit

Hi. Noticed you removed a "citation needed" tag from Steve Finnan's article. Editors add these tags when they think a particular fact needs an inline citation to prove that it's true. They should only be removed if you can add a reference to a reliable source to back up the fact. If you know of somewhere reliable which verifies that Mr Finnan really is the only player to have played in all those competitions, please add it to the article; otherwise please leave the "citation needed" tag there so that someone else might notice it, find a suitable source, and so improve Mr Finnan's article. Thanks, Struway2 (talk) 13:28, 20 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello

edit

I very much appreciate your contributions to JK Rowling-related articles, but I must ask two things of you to make your fellow contributors' jobs easier. First, please familiarise yourself with the CITE template for writing citations. It's tedious but it is required in featured articles. Second, you probably could do with going over your sources a few times before writing them up; you've made some fairly big comprehension errors. Rowling never said that Dudley was inspired by Eustace Scrubb, for instance, or that the prequel would be the last thing she ever wrote about Potter. Sorry to pique you like this but it is better to get these things out of the way quickly. Thanks. Serendipodous 13:49, 29 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

She did say the prequel would be the last thing she wrote, besides the Encyclopedia. - Sparrowgoose

Argentina captains

edit

Hi, there have been many discussions at WP:FOOTY about succession boxes, a clear majority of editors see them as clutter. The general pattern has been to try and phase them out, sometimes by creation of managerial templates, sometimes by replacement by a Wikilink to a suitable article. In the specific case of the Argentine captains, the succession boxes you added only led back to Ayala where they just stopped as if he were the first captain of Argentina. If you feel the captaincy of the Argentina national team is an important issue I would recommend the creation of an article with a similar structure to List of England national football team captains, this comprehensive article could then be linked to from the player articles and from the Argentina national football team article. It would then be a much more useful navigational device which would allow quick navigation to other captains that don't happen to be immediately before or after in the line of succession. If you chose to start this article you would get my full support and any help I could offer. Regards EP 22:25, 30 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Emre

edit

Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living persons, as you did to Emre Belözoğlu. Please remember that just because Fenerbahçe have been given permission to talk to Emre, the deal hasn't been done yet. Wikipedia is not a crystal ball (see WP:NOTCRYSTAL) so until such time as reputable third party sources have confirmed the transfer (and the move has actually taken place), he remains a Newcastle United player. Thank you. DrFrench (talk) 18:34, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

He has officially transferred already. - Sparrowgoose 17:12, 3 June 2008 (HKT)

You appear to have misunderstood. The citation you posted on my talk page is not 'official confirmation by FIFA'. It's a syndication of an AFP newswire which says "Emre will sign a three-year deal with Istanbul side Fenerbahce next week, the Turkish press has reported." Note that it says will not has. Note that it's reporting speculation in the Turkish press, not a confirmed fact. The Wikipedia article says as much already. If he has officially transferred already, please provide an appropriate citation. Nether Sky Sports or BBC Sport have reported it as yet - and they are two good, reliable sources for such matters. Until such confrmation is given, it's merely speculation. DrFrench (talk) 17:58, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Image:Fernando torres.JPG

edit

A tag has been placed on Image:Fernando torres.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Fernando torres.JPG|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
