Don't auto-modify User_talk pages! edit

You inlined a bunch of template on my User_talk page, without leaving any actual message. This is confusing, rude, and overall a Bad Idea. Please don't do that. JesseW, the juggling janitor 05:10, 8 September 2015 (UTC)

Please don't fiddle with templates! edit

You modified an "unsigned" template on my talk page this morning, which didn't need modifying: I'd already marked myself as unsigned - if it ain't broke, don't fix it! Reverted to previous version. Thanks. What does the Fish say? | Woof! 13:18, 8 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

(reply to both topics) My bad; it seems that I was too zealous in substituting transclusions of the unsigned template (as that is the practice at other wikis that I edit). I'll try to avoid doing this in the future. -Sonicwave (talk|c) 03:33, 9 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Makes sense. Such edits are generally well-regarded in the main, article namespace -- but not on User_talk pages (mainly because any edit to a User_talk page causes a notification, and that's overkill (and confusing) for a mere inlining or typo fix). Thanks for responding, and generally for helping at Wikipedia! JesseW, the juggling janitor 01:43, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
No problem! I'll keep this in mind for the future. -Sonicwave (talk|c) 04:06, 11 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Rollback edit

I have granted the "rollbacker" permission to your account. After a review of some of your contributions, I believe you can be trusted to use rollback for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, contact me and I will remove it. Good luck and thanks. – Gilliam (talk) 06:27, 16 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your trust! I'll make sure to use rollback properly (and use alternate methods when the revert is not vandalism and requires explanation). -Sonicwave (talk|c) 07:14, 16 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Foreign-language articles edit

At WP:PNT/T there is a useful set of templates, many of them bilingual, for pointing authors of foreign-language articles to their native WP. Many of them don't know there is any WP but this one. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 09:24, 17 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for pointing them out! I'll look into those templates when coming across foreign language pages. -Sonicwave (talk|c) 04:19, 18 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Ocean Finance edit

Hi Sonicwave

Sorry to contact you directly. Last week I engaged with Jaaron95 about the Ocean Finance page. Ocean Finance (www.oceanfinance.co.uk) was previous owned by AIG but was purchased by Think Money Group (www.thinkmoneygroup.careers) in 2012 (I am an employee of the business as you can see on my user page). You can see a media report of the acquisition here: http://www.mortgageintroducer.com/ccstory/244330/5/EXCLUSIVE:_Think_Money_buys_Ocean_Finance.htm

Jaaron95 removed the redirect from the Ocean Finance page to AIG. However, I can see you that you have added it back in. I wondered if it would be possible to remove it again please?

Apologies if I have gone about this the wrong way - still getting to grips with how things are done on Wikipedia.

Iwill41 (talk) 12:47, 29 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Iwill and Sonicwave32: Hello both. Since Ocean Finance is no more a part of AIG, per [this source http://www.mortgageintroducer.com/ccstory/244330/5/EXCLUSIVE:_Think_Money_buys_Ocean_Finance.html], I've reinstated my edit. Hope you are okay with it. And for Iwill, you have my help anytime. Regards—JAaron95 Talk 13:45, 29 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Bombarde vs. Posaune vs. Ophecleide edit

Hi Sonic Wave: I am a lifelong organist and organ scholar. The edit is correct as I wrote it (and thank you for keeping it in good faith). Bombarde is much fundamental, and some overtones. Posaune is some fundamental, and much overtones. Ophecleide is voiced to bring out the maximum fundamental and train of overtones both. Ophecleide is starting to make a comeback in organ building, but it was primarily a turn-of-the-century (1900) "Can You Top This?" device. It required an enormous organ and an enormous room to absorb it's tone in balance to the rest of the instrument. While what I have written applies to both 16' and 32' pitches of these stops, it is primarily about the 32' pitch stops. My apologoies if I posted this in the wrong place, and again - thanks for asking! Melos Antropon (talk) 03:18, 20 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Melos Antropon, thanks for your response. Would you mind if I copied your comment to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject PipeOrgan? -Sonicwave (talk) 08:03, 24 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Not at all - and again: Thanks for asking! Melos Antropon (talk) 02:43, 25 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Kate Donnelly Redirect Page Deletion edit

Good evening,

I appreciate all of the work you have done to improve Wikapedia. You are highly appreciated by me and so many others!

As someone who is looking to become a dedicated member of Wikapedia, I strongly advise that the Kate Donnelly Redirect Page be deleted for the following reasons: Since there are many other Kate Donnelly's in the world and Kate de Remero does not go by Kate Donnelly anymore, I think the presence of the redirect page makes for extra confusion; since, as noted, she uses the last name De Remero, it makes her description much more complicated and difficult to understand; the presence of the redirect article makes it more difficult to find the actual Kate de Remero that people will look for; and because it is noted on the Kate De Remero page that she was born as Kathleen Donnelly, making it even more confusing to add in the Kate Donnelly.

Thank you so much for your time and I pray that this redirect page will be deleted. 108.51.195.71 (talk) 21:59, 30 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
