Notability of Abraham Chempanal edit

A tag has been placed on Abraham Chempanal, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Moonriddengirl 02:43, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits, such as those you made to Emperor Penguin, are considered vandalism and immediately reverted. If you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the work of others. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Chanker.jpeg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Chanker.jpeg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:11, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:7344 B Caner002.jpg edit

Hi, concerning the image Image:7344 B Caner002.jpg, you said when uploading it that you had taken the picture yourself. In that case, if you wanted to release it as GFDL, I think the best licence to choose would have been {{GFDL-self}}. Someone came along and added a template to say that the image had no source. If you're uploading an image that you don't hold the copyright to, it's most important to say exactly where it came from, and what licence it has, so that others can verify it. If you upload your own images, it's sufficient to upload them with a free licence, and to say that you took the photo yourself. That counts as giving the source. It was presumably an error that the other person made, in tagging the image as having no source. I came across it when I was working my way through several hundred images categorised for speedy deletion, but I always check that there isn't a mistake, so I spotted this one. (There are so many improperly-tagged images on Wikipedia that those who are active in sorting them out can be excused for momentarily losing concentration and tagging a legitimate image as unsourced.) Perhaps it would be best to change the licence to {{GFDL-self}} just to make it extra clear. Thanks. ElinorD (talk) 23:32, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:News manset resim 16175 NuriSahin001.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:News manset resim 16175 NuriSahin001.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page.
