Request permission to use a restricted image edit

Hi Skier Dude, I want to use the image File:Trollface.svg specifically to User:Soviet King/Userpage only. Can I have permission to use this image, because I only intend to use the image on that page only. Soviet King (talk) 03:52, 1 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

The problem is that it is a non-free image, which has massive restrictions, including not being used in the user space. Sorry... Skier Dude (talk) 03:56, 1 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Oh alright, Thanks for letting me know. Regards, Soviet King (talk) 03:58, 1 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wrong deletion of Article edit

With respect, in order to justify your deletion of my article: HUMAN REVOLUTION IN SGI, you offered on a page with various causes for deletion. None of the causes you mentioned on that page come any near to the reality of the mentioned Article, its value, proper research, impartiality, citations...The Article does not violate any criterion set by Wikipedia. I maintain that your deletion of that article is incorrect. I request a review. I request you to specify a cause for deletion. You have not specified what motivated you to just delete a work which took over 100 hours of efforts to develop. If there were any areas in the article requiring improvement or edition then I request informing me what to improve or edit in the article. But to treat a serious and valuable philosophical subject : Human Revolution in SGI - as any low quality or abusive text this is plainily incorrect and hurting. I believe my requests are valid and supported by Wikipedia rules and practice, and I sincerely request you to reply to what I presented in this communication. Thank you. Tony Cozier book cover edit

Thanks for tagging, but you ought to check the history before nominating for speedy deletion. The image had been accidentally removed by the last editor's good faith edit. I've fixed it. Anyway, keep up the good work. --Dweller (talk) 07:05, 10 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

None of that text addresses what I wrote. If you're going to speedy tag like a bot, use a bot account, which can be properly set up and monitored by the community. If you're going to do it as an editor, please do it with care. --Dweller (talk) 08:22, 11 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

File:The Week Ahead IntelliStar.png edit

Hi.

File:The Week Ahead IntelliStar.png is not orphaned. It has never been. Did you mean to put ORFU tag on another file and put it on this one by mistake?

I see! So, despite the look of the image, the file name was different. Still, correct me if I am wrong, but the speedy deletion tag was on the image when you put ORFUD on it, wasn't it? Fleet Command (talk) 17:20, 10 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yep - I added the F5 after the F7 - just to assure that both reasons were being covered (belt & suspenders). Skier Dude (talk) 05:06, 11 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

File:Here on My Own.jpg edit

Hi,

You left me a message about File:Here on My Own.jpg which I uploaded for use in an article. It was orphaned because someone replaced it with a bigger version of the same image. This is a cover photo, the one I uploaded is 300x300 and the new one is 600x600. I'm not sure about the rules in this wikipedia, I thought copyrighted images can't be larger than 300x300. Can you tell me please if this rule is valid in English WP? thanks, – Alensha talk 21:40, 17 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yep, the replacement is massively oversized- your's is the correct. If you feel comfortable replacing the image, be bold and go for it... elsewise I'll take care of it for you later tonight.Skier Dude (talk) 22:28, 17 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! I replaced the original image and put the large one on speedy deletion. – Alensha talk 23:26, 17 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Queen Elizabeth I anniversary edit

The redirect from Queen Elizabeth I anniversary was deleted by you under G8, the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth I was celebrated as a national holiday on Nov 17th for well over 200 years. It was also celebrated by the Protestant community. Was this a mistaken delete? ChrisGualtieri (talk) 05:55, 16 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Restored to the older redirect - newest was a non-existing article. Skier Dude (talk) 03:20, 17 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Problem is the article does exist, but I cannot target it with wiki-markup. It was supposed to be Elizabethan era#Festivals, holidays and celebrations, but I must have axed the 'an' and broke it when I copied it. With it deleted I couldn't see what I broke. I had to move the redirect when I was told the cultural aspect of Elizabeth I was given its own article. I'm still new to redirects as you can see. Help! please... edit

Hi,

I'm very new to attempting to edit Wikipedia and I put a request on the 'request for confirmation' page yesterday which you were kind enough to reply to.

I admit I'm quite confused and was hoping you might be able to help me, if you don't have time I understand.

I saw your comment that 'I should be autoconfirmed by then', but I can't find any information about how long, or what someone has to do, to become autoconfirmed.

In addition to this I would still like to alter Laurell K. Hamilton's page, but, I can't work out how to upload the photo correctly. The photo is available on her 'media' page on her website, and I emailed her personal assistant to ask whether I could use the photo to replace the rather awful photo currently on her Wikipedia page (and received approval), however, I tried to upload it using the upload wizard on the wikipedia commons page, and tried to correctly attribute it as 'Copyrighted with free use', and tried to include this copyright notice: {{Copyrighted free use provided that image is not altered in any way other than size and cropping}} (yes, I added those provisos to protect Ms Hamilton). The photo is freely available for download from her page, so I felt this was correct, but, it's not letting me complete the upload. I get this error: This does not seem to be valid wikitext, or does not contain a license.

I would like to later watch the page for any other alterations (by other people) and I'd like to learn how to properly add to and edit Wikipedia pages, but that'll take some time!!!

Again, I'm really sorry to annoy you, I can imagine you're insanely busy, but I'd appreciate the help.

Kind regards

Larysa J. (talk) 14:23, 17 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

As requested, link to page in question is: http://www.laurellkhamilton.org/laurell-k-hamilton/media-contact/ Thanks... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Larysaj (talkcontribs) 21:36, 17 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

OK, looking at this, there is a clear copyright notification on the page... which means that uploading it without getting the "ticket" (confirmation of the copyright release) through the WP:OTRS system will mean that it would be deleted very quickly because of it being a copyrighted picture of a living person. Therefore, if you follow the link at WP:OTRS and have someone from Ms. Hamilton's organization (not you) send an e-mail to the wikimedia foundation (found on that page) with the appropriate release of the copyright - once that release is cleared and it is given a ticket number, the image can be used here. Without that, it's bound to be deleted... So, OTRS is the best way to go at this point. Skier Dude (talk) 06:12, 18 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

MAKO Surgical Corp. deletion edit

Hello,

On November 22nd, 2011 you deleted the wikipedia page for MAKO Surgical Corp for the following reason: G8. Pages dependent on a non-existent or deleted page.

I admit I'm not familiar with all the reasons why an article gets deleted, but could you expand on why you deleted the page? What page was the article dependent on?

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Waffles2.0 (talkcontribs) 19:12, 17 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

MAKO Surgical Corp. was a redirect page to MAKO Surgical which was deleted on 24 November by Fastily as "spam" - see WP:NOTPROMOTION for the policy regarding this. Skier Dude (talk) 06:07, 18 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

File:Chandrakant bakshi.jpg edit

The above photograph was taken by me so i don't think it was a copyrighted material in fact. What was the reason to delete it?

File:Chandrakant bakshi.jpg was deleted by Fastily on 07:32, 18 April 2012 because it did not have any source - the info provided was solely "image of him." Given the license provided, a source is needed for the image. Skier Dude (talk) 05:42, 19 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Article "List of trains run by Indian Railways" is long, unreferenced and links to several external internet sites edit

Hey, quick question for you. Should List of trains run by Indian Railways exist in its current form? It is somewhat indiscriminate, long, unreferenced and links to hundreds of external internet sites. I would like a second opinion before recommending to AfD.
