Reverting edit

I'm not sure what you were trying to do at User:BS 0013, but your changes essentially destroyed the page [1]. I have a feeling you are trying to revert other people's edits, but are doing it by cutting & pasting, which would be incorrect. Please familiarize yourself with WP:REVERT before attempting any further reverting of edits. Thanks. --ZimZalaBim (talk) 04:22, 11 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Archiving edit

Hi. I hope you are planning to archive this message you removed from your talk page? --ZimZalaBim (talk) 22:35, 11 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Reverts & edit summaries edit

I'm not sure why you made this revert [2]. What would help explain is to start properly using edit summaries. --ZimZalaBim (talk) 03:10, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Admin coaching, etc. edit

Are you ready to get started?

The waiting time over at Admin coaching is long (some people have been waiting in line since July). I'm an admin coach with the project, and for my students I set up a group discussion page so that we could all learn from each other. The scope of this concept has expanded into the Virtual classroom, which is an open forum for the teaching and learning of advanced Wikipedia skills.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to participate, as a student, as a coach, or both. Every week or two a new major topic of discussion or classroom assignment is introduced, usually with a guest writer who presents his or her expertise on the current subject and who remains on hand to answer questions. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the discussions, such as sharing your expertise, asking and answering questions, etc.

The current topic of discussion is vandalism, and our guest writer is Budgiekiller.

All discussions are open-ended, so all previous discussion topics and classroom assignments are still there for viewing and further participation. There are also sections for posting miscellaneous topics and questions, requesting coaching assistance, etc.

In addition to inviting those who would like to learn, I routinely invite experts from all over Wikipedia to come and contribute for the benefit of all. The VC is rapidly turning into a clearing house of the best resources, methods, and techniques known for working on Wikipedia.

You are cordially invited to participate.

Here's an announcement box which you can place on your userpage or at the top of your talk page for keeping up to date with classroom assignments.

I hope to see you there. Sincerely,  The Transhumanist    07:32, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please use edit summaries edit

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. JDtalk 16:04, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Concordia Newsletter edit

  NEWSLETTER

Concordia is currently trying to relaunch. I, and all the members of the ex-council, wish to welcome new members to the group. We are a group who aim to promote remaining civil, in an environment where messages can easily be interpretated wrongly.

Help out now! edit

  • Try and help people remain civil! Talk to them, and help them in any way possible. Do not be afraid to use the talk page.
  • Give people the Civility Barnstar.
  • Make and spread some Wikitokens so people know there are people to help if they want assistance.
  • Add banners or logos to your userpage to show your support.
  • Suggest some ideas! Add 'em to the talk page.

We are a community, so can only work though community contributions and support. It's the helping that counts.

Decision Making edit

The council expired one month ago, but due to the current position of the group the current council will remain until the position of the group can be assessed, and whether it would be sensible to keep Concordia going. For most decisions, however, it will be decided by all who choose to partake in discussions. I am trying to relaunch because of the vast amounts of new members we have received, demonstrating that the aims are supported.

If you wish to opt of of further talk-page communications, just let us know here.

Buddy Ryan edit

Why did you do this revert, dropping the headings and organization of the article? [3]. --ZimZalaBim (talk) 15:32, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hate edit

Hi - solid work fighting vandalism, but please be sure to go through the page's history and check a preview before you save your revert. You missed a bunch on this one [4]. Keep up the fight, though. --ZimZalaBim (talk) 22:05, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Revert concerns edit

Hi Sir Paul - I've been seeing some questionable reverts on your part, with little more of an edit summary than "RV". For example, these two reverts [5] [6] seemed to remove valid contributions, or at least contributions that, if you question them, should be discussed on the article's talk page, not just reverted without explanation (as if vandalism). Is there some other explanation I'm not understanding? --ZimZalaBim (talk) 23:40, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Again, please take care when reverting edits. This IP's edit was valid [7]. As the edit summary notes, s/he was removing a duplicate comment s/he had left earlier (as the history reveals). This shouldn't have been reverted, and the IP shouldn't have been warned. Perhaps slow it down a bit with the reverting to ensure quality and accuracy? ---ZimZalaBim (talk) 14:16, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
And once again, please be more careful with your reverts. Your revert at Talk:Citizendium [8] reverted the helpful work of Wwoods (talk · contribs) who was creating an archive of the talk page (you'll notice the "archivebox" syntax in his/her edit). Your enthusiasm to combat vandalism is laudable, but one can be too diligent. Please take your time and examine page histories and the previous edits before reverting. Thanks. --ZimZalaBim (talk) 22:12, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

No personal attacks edit

With regards to your comments on User talk:68.197.93.191: Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on contributors; personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks may lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. --ZimZalaBim (talk) 01:46, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Subst edit

When using certain template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. --Joe Jklin (T C) 11:48, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

No problem. Be sure to check the history in the future for you reverted my own revert back to the vandalism. Langara College 21:05, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Editing user pages edit

Though I appreciate the revert, I'd prefer to do it myself. If you wish to help me out in the future, you can leave a note on my talk page. Thanks.--Robbstrd 00:11, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Talk:Vancouver edit

This is about the 6th warning you've had about reverting wrongly. For the last time please look at the history and the changes before you revert. The revert on the talk page for Vancouver was an archival of the 43kb too long talk page. You will be reported if you continue to inhibit the progress of Wikipedia even if its by mistake. It still causes more work for others. Langara College 01:30, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

User:Moerfound edit

It wasn't vandalism. The content is clearly unacceptable use of a User page for advertising purposes. See WP:USER as well as WP:NOT. -- Fan-1967 02:38, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

More revert problems edit

For the very last time, take care when reverting, especially other user's talk pages. Your revert here [9] reversed an automated bot that was archiving old messages. How did I know that? Because I read the edit summary that stated "Archiving 4 threads older than 2 days to User talk:Glen_S/Archive10". I've warned you numerous times above to be careful, and so have others. If you persist in making poor decisions when reverting, I won't hesitate blocking you from editing so you can spend more time learning how to do it correctly. --ZimZalaBim (talk) 03:48, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
