Re: Louisville

Alright, but as it's a featured article, it's better to have paragraphs of prose rather than bulletted lists with 1-sentence tidbits... generally stuff like that has to be rewritten into paragraphs during the FAC process. Waverly Hills pictures

Since you offered up such good photos of Waverly Hills Sanitorium - what are the rights going to be for release of them? (The rules require a release from the copyright owner for them to be on Wikipedia.--Mike Straw 16:57, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Got it. I returned as much as I could on the article to a NPOV. There may be some small edits that may be required on a subsection or two, but for the most part, the bias is gone. On the other hand, it needs citations. Glad to be of some assistance! :) Seicer 19:24, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

WV state routes

One of our respected admins pointed out that alot of the articles on WV state routes are lack context (ie they say that "West Virginia State Route XX is an east-west connector route"). I was going to start by going through and basically adding that they are "highways" or "roads" or whatnot to show that they are automobiles. She made a good point that people from other countries might think that they are commuter rail lines. Anyhow, if you can help me out on this, I'd owe you a wikifavor of some sort. Yeah, I noticed that the highway listings are rather vague. To bring it up to Wiki standards for the US, in terms of terminology, the listings should be "West Virginia State Highway XXX" rather than "Route XXX", which would probably end a lot of confusion right there. No problem. The language of whether to use "route" or "highway" is largely demographic and a regional one at that. I was wondering for a bit why there were no "West Virginia State Highway XXX" articles at first... Template POV-check in Ghost article

A little reminder - You put the POV-check template in the Ghost article, in a context where it should not be used. It is meant to be used in articles that are written without any regard to the NPOV policies, and not in content disputes. As for the debate over the links, keep it going on the talk page and see if you guys can reach a common ground. If you guys cannot after a few weeks, go to Wikipedia:Request for Comment and seek input from others (be sure to follow the guidelines there to a T). As for the SVG, I've wondered about that myself. Ditto. The links were not originally sorted, and had misshapen descriptions. I corrected this by adding accurate descriptions based on the content they had and the language they catered to. Now that some users want to influence the article's links by adding their strong bias and untruth to it, I removed the descriptions entirely. Seicer 18:32, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

state routes

I asked the person who added the tags earlier today about what suggestions he had for new names for the articles, as they already seemed to match naming convention as they stood. I am waiting for a reply, but I tend to agree with you that they are fine for now.

As far as renaming the WV road articles, I would hold off for a bit. A recent arbcom ruling warned against any sort of renaming until some over-reaching guidelines are agreed upon and it seems that the official names for such highways are West Virginia State Route xx. Israfghyianonanaq

I am not sure why my update was deleted... I was just watching the Daily Show, was entertained by their updated graphics package encompassing the entire region and tried to find it on here. When I found it wasn't mentioned, I waited for the graphic to be repeated, transcribed the title ("Israfghyianonanaq") and placed it on here. As a former member (I don't have that much time anymore to check around on a bunch of UE sites unfortuantely), I never had any problems with Deggi5. They were, in my opinion, much more welcoming and free spirited than UER. But this is not the place to discuss grudges against various sites, its about your baised edits to urban exploration. Lexington, Kentucky cityscape

Thank you for writing the summation of Lexington's new developments; I think that says what needs to be said without reading like an advertisement. Incidentally, I don't have any data to support this but I doubt that Main & Rose will really be Lexington's first downtown grocery (I changed it from "urban" to be more clear); having grown up downtown I know there haven't been any for decades, but I am very skeptical of the claim that there has NEVER been a grocery store in Lexinton's downtown. Your "blanking" of other material (essentially, since you shunned the pages to the main List of numbered highways in Ohio) is inapproperiate. The seperation of the pages, similar to West Virginia, is far more approperiate and wise since the list of highways is very long in Ohio. VT table

I'm looking at it now -- is there nay correlation on those rows (e.g. is VT 2A related to 8A in any way)? The shading seems to imply such a relation exists (I'm guessing there isn't and it's just a numerically ascending table of the VT routes). If there isn't such a relation, maybe you can experiment with a checkerboard-type shading scheme? The only probelm with this that i've run into is when it needs to be changed it gets to be quite a pain to fix the shading, espeically if you're adding something in here or there. If you want, I can whip up a PHP app really quickly that throws out the correct shading for the routes currently on the table. The only risk we'd be taking with a checkerboard shading is that it might seem to be a little too 'busy' on the page with so many colours and images around.

Another usability issue is not your fault but more wikipedia's -- i'd be inclined to click on the image to go to the article with the current scheme -- but the mediawiki automatically links us to the image itself, which is arguably useless. Maybe if you try the following format it would look better (excuse the HTML needed to make it look like a table, I know it's not wikipedia-standards compliant):

Route 2A	Route 2B	Route 3
Route 4A	Route 5A	Route 7A
Route 7B	Route 8	Route 8A

Also, I seem to be favouring the term 'Route 2A' over 'VT 2A', it would make the area to click on (the text itself) more prominent compared to the 'VT 2A', and the vermont is more or less implied by the title of the page. atanamir 07:26, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

• looking it over again, maybe you can afford making the images a little bigger (I experimnted using the bottom row) since the clickable text seems to be prominent enough now. Plus, the numbers on the images were getting a little distorted. atanamir 07:27, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
  • Another thing you can do which should most likely make it much much harder on the editor is to make the entire cell clickable to the article -- you can look atthe HTML required in the source. I've done so on the last bottom right cell of that table (Route 8A) to show you. This would absolve many of the clickability problems. The image, still, when clicks, will go to the Image page. I dont think that can be overriden without advanced Jscript. atanamir 07:30, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
    • Never mind, mediawiki takes out the onclick. ignore that last point ^^. The 100% can get a little too big too -- that was my first thought. I have a 24" monitor and it streches all the way across the screen and can get a little busy/cumbersome to look at. OH Route List

• Personally, I prefer the current name as its most specific (I tend to agree with SPUI most of the time when it comes to these things), but seeing as most people would liek it moved, my second choice would be List of highways in Ohio -- if you look at the article state highway, it makes it clear that the term state highway only refers to state route / state highways -- roads that are completely state-administered. Interstates and U.S. Routes are both partially funded by the federal government, and thus don't fall under the 'state highway' category, although they are maintained by the state. I think we should change it to List of highways in Ohio, if that's fine with you. atanamir 17:53, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

I have created all new shields (as all of the 3-digit shields were an incorrect size), and they're sitting on my computer right now. SR List for Ohio

List of State Highways in Ohio -- couple of questions:

1. Do you mind if I move this to lowercase? they shouldn't be capitalised because it's not a proper noun.
2. Is it OK to take off the "Ohio" prepending all of the State Routes? This is for several reasons:
   1. (main reason) The article won't fit unless I maximize the browser window in 1280 resolution, simply having State Route X should fix this.
   2. (other reason) Ohio's DOT calls them State Routes too.
   3. (minor reason) all the "Ohio"s seem superfluous

I blocked the IP 703523767 user for 24 hours. I'm going to leave him a message explaining how to better resolve disputes. When the block is over I need for you all to stay calm and be a good example. The typed of edits the user was making were not highly damaging to the articles so you need to try and discuss on the talk page instead of doing multiple revert edits. If the user will not engage in discussion that leads toward consensus and starts back disruptive editing leave me a message and report on WP:AN/I.

In regards to what is considered a constructive edit, many edits by 70.35.237.67 appear constructive at first glance due to the fact that they cite sources, but when the sources are examined they do not directly reference what they are being sourced to. This user cites inaccurate sources in an apparent attempt to create legitimacy to his/her form of vandalism. Chris24 02:18, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Remember that we always need to assume good faith and not WP:BITE. I blocked the IP to stop them from editing and get their attention because they were not following policy and not listening to your warning. I'm not sure that the IP is a vandal. Good chance the IP does not understand the rules and is too stubborn to admit it. I'm going to encourage them to get an account and follow the rules. Speaking as someone with a dairy farming background (120 head in a relatively modern setup for the mid-1970s) the article seems to have been written by contributors with a good knowledge of the business, but considerable work is needed to add citations for the facts they may have taken as basic knowledge, and to balance some of the bits on competition which appear to be geared to particular national perspectives. It's clear to me that at least two of the editors participating in the discussion have no interest in reaching consensus but instead would prefer to bandy about insults and avoid direct questions asked of them, so I'm putting this on your Talk page instead, where you, who seem like an eminently reasonable editor, and I can further discuss things. :)

Have you thought through any proposed revisions to the article yourself? I've been sort of playing around with it in my head, and I think an "Aftermath" section might be an appropriate addition. That would allow for a brief discussion of the violation of FAA staffing policy and the FAA's reaction to it, if nothing else. Unfortunately, it would also open up the article for all sorts of other, even less relevant garbage, like a mention of the lawyer scum in Texas "recruiting" clients, which is unquestionably "aftermath" of the crash as well. I really don't want to have to fight this battle about those sorts of things too.

I am adamantly against including any mention of the pilots getting into the wrong aircraft, as this only serves to indict the pilots as completely incompetent absent an explanation (which has thus far not been forthcoming from either Comair or the NTSB) of why this happened.--chris.lawson 21:04, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Milla Jovovich article

Hi. Vandalism on Milla Jovovich article continues. I have reason to believe the same editor who used dinamic IP did it again, and opened a new account. The same user just accussed me of the same, although it is obvious from history of that article this is not the case. He also revelaed the name of my IP. It is possible the user fails to understand the meaning of his violation, or Wikipedia rules in general. The user changed the article erasing references that made that data verifiable and replaced it by unsupported claims that conflict the rest of the article anyway. I will not edit just yet, as I don't intend to breach the 3RR, but what can be done against this vandalism and what can be done to stop a destructive edit war? I've tried my best and gave good, official, undisputable references that support my version, but they are persistantly being replaced. I proposed in the Talk page for that article to be protected from further editing for a limited amount of time, so we can let those hot heads cool off. After, of course, it has been reverted to the well-sourced version, as you did previously. Can this be done? Can I take this proposal to someone, as this edit-war is really frustrating, although I'm not about to let the thing go just because vandals are persistant. Please let me know what you think. Are you familiar with the former WV 59 (now CR 59) from Lost City east to Virginia? I'm going to write an article about the former VA 59, which connected to it, and would appreciate any insight into the road. They all seem to be major projects - no minor secondary routes - so I'd put them in the individual articles. For the various connectors that are planned, especially where there is little information, it might be best to create a proposed highways in West Virginia article until construction begins. Obviously you are unfamilar with WV roads, and don't let the facts get in the way of your edits. City Streets are not part of the WV highway system. Your shielding is wrong of secondary roads, that matches C.R.'s. You left out C.R.'s which stands for County Route, although they are part of the state system. "Roads of Charleston, West Virginia" do not necessairly be part of the WV Highway system. They are meant to explain in detail, the roads of a particular city. I just essentially reverted an IP edit on Ashland, Kentucky that added "Noah Madden" as a notable native. A quick web search didn't turn up anything on him, but maybe he's a local celeb or something. You seem to have more knowledge of the area than I, so if my revert was a mistake, please correct it. Also, the editor before me changed the description on Billy Ray Cyrus from "Born in Flatwoods, Kentucky, a suburb of Ashland" to "Born in Flatwoods, Kentucky, a suburb of Greenup." I am sorry if I offended. Of course, I do not feel Keith Albee, Recreation in Huntington, etc. should be deleted since they have significance beyond the local area: Historical, tourism and so on. My feelings on the Pink Bridge is that it is not only of local interest (homeowners feuding with the Mayor), but it is of transient interest and not historical or noteworthy for an encyclopedia entry. I do think the article was very well written and nicely sourced, and as a new editor you are correct in that I am just getting my feet wet. I just checked the old version in Firefox, and it displays just fine, exactly like it does in Safari (Apple). Exactly what is the problem with the old layout? I'm trying to get a good posed photo of a 3rd-gen Ranger for the highlight image so I can move the other one to the empty space, and that should take care of it. Cincinnati

Hi - you reverted my edits to Cincinnati. I had changed some external links which had double brackets ([[]]) round them. Double brackets are only used for internal links, and therefore, when used on external links they display as [[5]] rather than the correct [6]. I will be reverting them back to single brackets. WikiProject Louisville is sprouting its wings for 2007! We have a new Assessment Department and a much more refined project template. We have nearly 1,000 articles catalogued for our project.
