Formula One 2007 edit

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Formula One 2007, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. — Rebelguys2 talk 02:24, 18 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Michael Schumacher edit

Hi. It's usually best to try and achieve consensus on what should go into the article. Several editors, including myself, disagree with the addition you've made several times over the last few days. Given that, it would probably be best to use the Michael Schumacher talk page to set out your reasons for wanting to make the change. It would also be useful if you used the edit summary to describe the reason for the addition. For myself, I don't think it's a good change for two reasons. The first is that I don't think it's true - it's the job of the stewards to make those decisions and I can't think of any reason to believe that they did anything wrong. The second, more importantly, is that your view that it was an inappropriate decision is just that: your view. I would be happy for it to be included if you could find a reference to a notable commentator (former driver, team owner, something like that) saying that they thought that the decision was wrong - it's then not your original research but reporting the view of someone else. I would say, however, that that level of detail would be more appropriate at the 2006 Monaco Grand Prix article.

You also need to be careful of something called the Three revert rule - in essence don't revert a change more than three times in 24 hours, or you may be blocked by an administrator. Also note that this is not a 'right to revert' three times - the best way forward is to discuss the point with other editors and come to a position that everyone is happy with. Cheers. 4u1e 07:16, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Commercial use of Image:2004 ateena nool lipukandja.jpg edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:2004 ateena nool lipukandja.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:2004 ateena nool lipukandja.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:2004 ateena nool lipukandja.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 20:42, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fernando Alonso edit

Hi again. The problem with the section you are repeatedly adding to Fernando Alonso is that it is by definition controversial, and therefore requires a reference. This is particularly important in the case of biographies of living people (see WP:BLP in particular). I would suggest that it's not a particularly notable event, all drivers get into these minor squabbles and this one didn't affect the outcome of the championship. However, if you really feel it has to be in there, then please go to the trouble of finding a reliable source to back it up. Since there is evidently not consensus on your addition, it would also be sensible to discuss its addition on the talk page.

You should also note that there are also some other more minor problems with your addition, like miss-spellings and use of American English in an article otherwise written in UK English: these can easily be fixed, however.

I have warned you before about the three revert rule, which you have now broken. Please don't break it any further. Cheers. 4u1e 11:54, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ayrton Senna edit

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Ayrton Senna. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.

I've tried, but I can't actually think of any good reason why you would edit 'Rain Master' to read 'Rain Man'. Not a title I can recall anyone in F1 ever being referred to by, let alone in numerous publications: If I'm wrong and it was just an ill-informed edit, you have my apologies. 4u1e 22:12, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK, apology required from me! I'm sorry for referring to the 'Rain Man' edit as vandalism - I accept that it was a good faith edit and I hope you will forgive me for my rather hasty assertion. In fact my whole post was a bit rude, so sorry for that as well.
Having said that, although I can see that Senna has been referred to as 'Rain Main', I still don't believe that it was a common term. Googling Senna & "Rain Man" comes up with 2,250 hits. Judging from the first few pages, a lot of them don't appear to be actually calling Senna the 'Rain Man'. They're lists or similar which happen to contain both phrases. I also just don't remember the term being used at the time. On the other hand Senna & 'Rain Master' gets only 2,170 hits, but, again going by the first few pages, most of them do actually refer to him.
Can I suggest that we have a wider discussion at WP:F1 and see if someone can come up with a reference for it? Cheers. 4u1e 09:18, 17 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for not making a reference in the first place. Senna was originally known as "The Rain Man", even though many still refer to him as "The Rain Master". However, it was actually Michael Schumacher who later emerged under the name of "The Rain Master".

Senna edit

Before you remove entire sections from well established articles please discuss the changes with other editors on the article talk page and get a consensus. Thanks. Kelpin 16:59, 18 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Adrian Sutil edit

Hi, I must reiterate what others have posted on your talk page. Discuss major chnages before just going and doing them. Your attempted deletion of Adrian Sutil's 2006 F1 results broke the whole resutls table on his page. If you want to debate the merrits of whether or not to list a drivers test drives, use the discussion page and try to come to a consenus with other editors. sdgjake 20:39, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Schumacher Rain Master edit

Hi. If you continue to add that section as is, I will continue to remove it because it violates at least two Wikipedia policies. Your edit summary "As Schumacher was known for his driving in wet conditions, this is an appropriate additon" does not negate these policies.

  • Verifiability - "any reader should be able to check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source. Editors should provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is challenged or is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed..... The burden of evidence lies with the editor who adds or restores material." e.g.
    • "some of the most robust defensive tactics ever seen" - says who?
    • "numerous F1 publications" ...like?
  • Neutral point of view - Numerous examples of gushing praise, which is unencyclopedic and POV. e.g.:
    • "but scythed through the field to amazingly"
    • "Schumacher dominated completely"
    • "A truly stunning drive in horrendous conditions"
    • "a class apart"
    • WP:WTA - "incredible", "inspired", "Schumacher waltzed away from the field at an embarrassing rate." Mark83 08:35, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Schumacher test.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Schumacher test.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Schumacher test.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Schumacher test.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Andrea (album) edit

A tag has been placed on Andrea (album), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. List of best-selling game consoles‎ edit

Thank you for your contributions to List of best-selling game consoles‎, but the PlayStation 3 figure you have been inserting into the article is incorrect, as you are calculating the numbers in http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/data/bizdataps3_sale_e.html incorrectly. You're not suppose to add all the 6 figures together, since the 3.57 FY (fiscal year) figure is the total of FY2006 Q3 (1.66) and Q4 (1.91) figures combined. To get the correct total add all the figures in the Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4 columns. Another method is to add the 3.57 FY2006 (fiscal year 2006 total) figure with the figures in the FY2007 row. Both methods would come up with the correct total of 10.49 million. Happy editing! --Silver Edge (talk) 02:39, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Regal Curio Enterprise edit

A tag has been placed on Regal Curio Enterprise requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 13:13, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like to remind you not to attack other editors, as you did on Talk:PlayStation 3. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. I appreciate the fact that you, as many others do, assume that MGS4 is the best-selling PS3 game. I, in fact, agree with you in that it most likely is. However, to insult me by calling me ignorant does not change the fact that it is not acceptable to post information on Wikipedia that is not backed up by actual data. Proposed deletion of TV1 (Estonia) edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article TV1 (Estonia), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Non-notable.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Proposed deletion of Hillar Teder edit

The article Hillar Teder has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Proposed deletion of EGBrowser edit

The article EGBrowser has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No significant coverage in reliable sources independent of topic — notability of topic is not established.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — Dmitrij D. File permission problem with File:EGBrowser.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:EGBrowser.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 21:29, 21 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 11:32, 28 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
