Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, SamsonFerenc. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Draft:Colette Mazzucelli, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies.

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Chris Troutman (talk) 17:28, 25 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Samson would you please reply here, and disclose any conflict of interest you have, including editing for pay? Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 22:39, 25 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Jytdog: @Chris troutman: If you have OTRS access, you may review VRTS ticket # 2016082710007096, which I have been handling. Without disclosing the identity of this user, I can say that this user is not a paid editor, but does have a conflict of interest. This user is editing the article in draft space based on my recommendation, with intention to submit for review via WP:AFC, because that is the only realistic venue Wikipedia offers for editors with a COI to publish an article on Wikipedia. ~Anachronist (talk) 15:02, 28 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Good enough for me. Chris Troutman (talk) 15:26, 28 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

This is Samson Ferenc. I require assistance please editing my entry so as not to lose accurate information as well as to reference sources properly. I have made an error in citation in trying to edit this morning. I have additional information to add to my entry as well as information to delete. Is there a colleague who may assist me please? I would like to make edits in the week ahead. Thank you. 8:29, 08 November 2017 (UTC)

I took a look at this edit you made this morning. You're calling for a reference called LIU. All you need to do is specify what LIU is. Please see H:RTAG for instructions. I'll also invite you to take the Wikipedia Adventure; it's a bit juvenile but it gives you good hands-on practice with this stuff. Of course, you can always go to the article's history tab and undo your edit if you want to get back to status quo ante. Everything is saved in the history tab, so the coding you typed in is always available to be recaptured. Chris Troutman (talk) 15:14, 8 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

This is Samson Ferenc, Chris. Thank you for your response. Now I am no longer seeing the edit I made last night or the history from before August. Where is the latest edit please with LIU Global mentioned as well as the history prior to August? I have an assistant who helped me at NYU before graduation who is able to work with me on the edits avoiding a conflict of interest. I would really like to update the information and sources that were listed in July within the next few weeks. Thank you. Samson Ferenc 12:40 8 November 2017 (UTC)

From the article, click on "view history". That's everything. Chris Troutman (talk) 18:26, 8 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

This is Samson Ferenc, Chris. With the assistance of a NYU alumna, we added in all text to be edited and sourced. I will aim to do this in the days ahead. She will then assist me with futher edits to make the entry as up to date as possible. Please advise if there is anything else I should know in the interest of full disclosure. Thank you.
