Chris Grant, Jr. edit

Hello SamH777,

It seems to me that an article you worked on, Chris Grant, Jr., may have something copied from http://www.chrisgrantjr.com/page/biography-1. It's entirely possible that I made a mistake, but I wanted to let you know because Wikipedia is strict about copying from other sites.

It's important that you edit the article and rewrite it in your own words, unless you're absolutely certain nothing in it is copied. If you're not sure how to fix the problem or have any questions, there are people at the help desk who are happy to assist you.

Thank you for helping build a free encyclopedia! CorenSearchBot (talk) 02:21, 26 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Chris Grant, Jr. edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Chris Grant, Jr., requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
  • It appears to be a clear copyright infringement. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. CtP (tc) 02:24, 26 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on Chris Grant, Jr. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

Proposed deletion of Christopher Grant Jr edit

The article Christopher Grant Jr has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Chris Grant Jr requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. September 2017 edit

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Alex ShihTalk 09:02, 5 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi Thank you for updating the username. I do understand that I got blocked because I was attempting to write an article as a company representative and not as an individual(which I am). I will no longer make that mistake. After reviewing the guidelines I better understand how, when and where to make contributions on the platform. I hope my response suffices and that you reinstate my account.

On another note: I was wondering if it is still possible for anyone to offer a contribution/article regarding actor/singer "Chris Grant Jr." I would hope that my mistake would not preclude future contributions on behalf of this artists. Please advise. Thanks.SamH777 (talk) 17:10, 6 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

PLEASE...let me know what else I must do to have my account unblocked. I look forward to being a productive contributor. Thanks again for your time.

(Non-administrator comment) (recent changes patroller) You need to file an unblock request the proper way. Otherwise you are shouting at a wall. My name isnotdave (talk/contribs) 18:43, 13 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for responding. I followed the instructions on requesting my account be unblocked. I even made clear that I understood the reason for the unblock and pasted my response in the brackets "{tlx|unblock|Your reason here}"they suggested. I'm not sure what I'm missing. Please advise. You need to file another one with the same unblock template. Then such request appears in a category, CAT:UNBLOCK, and admins will look at that. Please also indent your messages by putting one extra colon than the last message (as it will be displayed in edit mode). My name isnotdave (talk/contribs) 18:53, 13 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for responding... Before I reviewed the policies. I thought that the purpose of my account was to add information on people and topics I was familiar with that were not properly represented on the platform. The individual I posted about was just the one that I had tried before and was having trouble with so I kept trying to fix it without ever really understanding my errors...until now. I didn't realize at the time it was considered spamming, or advertising. All of the info I posted was documented facts from third-party sources and backed on Wikipedia. None of the information I posted was advertising (at least to my knowledge) it was just facts. With that said I see now, it would have made more sense just to link the name to the documented info already on Wikipedia ( let me know if that would have been best). I better understand the "sandbox" and realize I can have my info reviewed before it gets me blocked or deleted. I follow entertainment and can make valid contributions on many topics, now that I better understand the platform and policies. It's hard to list out exact people and topics I could contribute to off the top of my head because I would need to go and confirm the info wasn't already here and I don't have the time right now. Nevertheless... I've tried my best to communicate my apologies for my mistake and oversight. I hope my explanation is adequate and you allow my account be unblocked. Thank you for your patience with me as I try to get this matter resolved. Best.

Here are just some quick examples of updates I would like to make. Please let me know if this will suffice or if I need to find more. Kind regards. The page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross_Movement_Records) has typos and misinformation

"CMR is to release his first three solo albums. Hence solidifying the label's span of music being Da' T.R.U.T.H. & the Cross Movement for the East Coast, Midwest with the artists FLAME and J.R.."

Advised correction: CMR is the acronym for the label Cross Movement Records, it's not a person, so it's not "his first release"

For the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Backyardigans

"Tyrone somehow manages to put his hands in his pockets. Speaking voice: Reginald Davis Jr. (season 1-2), Jordan Coleman (seasons 2–3), and Christopher Grant, Jr. (season 4)."

Christopher Grant, Jr. should be listed as Chris Grant Jr (check IMDB) he's also a rapper and YouTube'er (Granted Geek)
