Hello, I'm Adakiko. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to Swimming Pool & Spa Association of Australia have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Please see WP:ELMINOFFICIAL. Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. 331dot (talk) 08:38, 29 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

I received your email; I do not discuss Wikipedia matters by email- please read the notice above for information on why you were blocked and how you can address it. 331dot (talk) 22:51, 29 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I am an employee of SPASA Australia. New to Wikipedia as a contributor and didn't check the details of the username etc. Fully accept and understand the username policy now and have modified. Also understand the why of the content but it was never designed to sell, just to explain and educate what SPASA represents and a true reference of who/what it is which I would think is necessary for encyclopaedic integrity?. Generally the updates I would make if unblocked would be to represent what/who Spasa actually is so as to not confuse viewers of the page.

Decline reason:

This does not convince me you wish to be a general editor, it looks like you are only interested in writing about your company. Additionally, it does not convince me you'll adhere to WP:COI and WP:PAID. Yamla (talk) 11:09, 24 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you are employed by the SPASAAU, you are a paid editor, you do not have to be specifically paid for edits. 331dot (talk) 23:20, 29 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for clarifying. I have updated the request. For clarify I am an employee of SPASA and wish to represent the true details of the organisation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SPASAAU (talkcontribs)

Please be aware that we have little interest in what a company's representatives wish to say about it. Content must be sourced to reliable sources that are independent of the company itself, and written from a plainly factual and neutral point of view. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 05:40, 30 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

(talk no problem - we can write in a factual/neutral matter - that's all we did anyway wasn't it? It was copied from the about us section which doesn't cast a bias on anything, simply outlining what the function/s are which is neutral? Not a pitch or requesting purchase/sale of anything. If external references are the required there are plenty of them - none of the ones that were put up last night though by a different user were relevant to the page - they were historic... — Preceding unsigned comment added by SPASAAU (talkcontribs) 05:52, 30 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Per your email:

Conflict of interest notice

edit

Given the email you sent me, you need to read and follow the following:
Hello, SPASAAU. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Swimming Pool & Spa Association of Australia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Adakiko (talk) 00:15, 30 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks (talk) that's fine i can do all this - happy with factual content but that's not was represented prior to my edits, nor is it correct now. Understand the informational use of wikipedia, that's all I intend to do... I'm sure that as a source of truth/reference Wikipedia would want correct facts up here? I can provide references if there is an administration of thoughts who would like to sift through it - everything I wrote was factual without spin ... merely discussing the activities of an operation to reflect facts& truth...SPASAAU (talk) 05:55, 30 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

That's not exactly correct- see WP:TRUTH. Wikipedia does not claim that the information here is "true", only that it can be verified. It's up to readers to decide what is true. Wikipedia strives to be accurate, but also is meant for summarizing independent reliable sources that have chosen on their own to write about a subject(i.e. not based on any materials put out by the subject, or based on prompting by the subject). As noted above, we are not interested in what any organization wants to say about itself, this includes it describing its own mission or what it does. 331dot (talk) 08:21, 30 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sure (talk) the verified part is easy if that's what you're looking for, there's plenty of external, reliable refs that can be drawn on to represent what SPASA IS.

(talk) can you please clarify if the ban will be lifted so we can continue? Happy to change the username etc and refrain from promotional edits, despite my role within the organisation
