Welcome!

edit

Hello, Jennifer, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Mrs Globe Australia, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms our use and policy on paid editing.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Lucia Hou who won the crown in 2018 wrote the entire Wikipedia page for Mrs/Ms Globe.

I have no bias. I was adding names that should be entered. There are still names missing and this is because we are not associated with the Mrs Globe organisation and are trying to remember the other women. It has been some time.

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 11:45, 20 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. MrOllie (talk) 22:13, 20 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, thank you for your message. However, I have not added any promotional material. I simply updated what was happening in Public Speaking for women in the 20th century. Same as Toastmasters and the Rostrum are there. I gave no contact information from the organisation. People need to know what's happening in the world now. Respectfully, I am surprised by your attitude. Surely, Wikipedia is for the public to know what's happening in the world in general versus a microscopic view? And contributed by the public, on what they know for sure. Perhaps, you have a vested interest in only mentioning Toastmasters and the Rostrum? I hope to hear a response from you. Thank you for your time, Jennifer :)

This edit is blatantly promotional. The use of phrases like "a global public speaking platform customised for women" and "self-empowerment platform" serve to sell the organization not to mention the use of caps in that edit. Please see the guidelines at WP:COI about conflicts of interest. Also your name is probably a violation of WP:PROMONAME as it "unambiguously represents the name of a company, group, institution or product." Notfrompedro (talk) 22:03, 21 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. Ahh Capitals I understand. That was a cut and paste from the organisations bio. I am unclear about the other mentions - please assist me to understand. The public speaking platform she talks is global. That was mentioned because Toastmasters and the Rostrum say they are in Australia. Self-empowerment is what public speaking is for women - this is more a movement than anything else and I would charge as highly relevant, especially in these times of women having a voice.

You glossed right over everything I said about your name being promotional and your editing having a conflict of interest. Notfrompedro (talk) 22:25, 21 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm LakesideMiners. I wanted to let you know that one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Public speaking—has been undone because it appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help desk. Thank you.   Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to Public speaking. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you.   Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "SHE Talks", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it implies a connection with https://www.shetalks.com.au/. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:49, 19 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
