edit

  Hello, I'm Kosack. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Sanford School seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Kosack (talk) 15:08, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I saw your message even though you removed it. The reason I reverted the edit was that I believe there were serious issues regarding whether the article maintained a neutral point of view. The article is tagged with multiple issues so it clearly needs work and it's good to have someone with a genuine interest in improving it but there are several points to address with your edit. I would suggest reading a few Wikipedia policies such as WP:NPOV, WP:COI, WP:PEACOCK and WP:CITING SOURCES before reviewing the edit again. Hope this helps. You're welcome to make edits to the page, Wikipedia is an open encyclopedia and you have as much right as anyone to edit it. As long as you adhere to the guidelines, such as the ones I pointed out in my previous message, then you should have no problems. It can be a steep learning curve at times to maintain an encyclopedic tone, especially when dealing with a topic you're close to, if you have any further questions then I'll help if I can. Happy editing. Kosack (talk) 16:49, 6 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

As an employee of the school, you need to read about conflict of interest and about paid editing. --David Biddulph (talk) 16:43, 29 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

  Hello, Rooseveltt. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Sanford School, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:15, 31 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
