Jehan Alain edit

Just a brief note to say what a magnificent job you've done with the Jehan Alain article. Euchiasmus 17:12, 7 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks :) it was a much more enjoyable edit than usual! One cannot really imagine what heights and depths Alain would have reached had he lived, given the standard of what he produced in the short time he had. A tragic loss for us all. Robindch 15:01, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Iona Institute edit

The use of "religous segregation" seemed too pejorative, so it was replaced with the more usual term "denominational education" (which appears along with the related "denominational school" in several government documents[1],[2], [3], [4] as well as those of Educate Together [5], [6])Autarch (talk) 17:35, 4 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

This edit reintroduced language that could be considered WP:EDITORIAL, perhaps even WP:POV or WP:OR - see also WP:NOTBLOG. The page Denominational education has examples of cited sources that criticise the system, though I did edit one phrase to be less WP:POV. I also wikified it a bit - there are pages on the HAI and AI.Autarch (talk) 17:22, 21 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • The phrase 'denominational education' does not accurately describe the reality of segregated education. I reinserted it becuase Wikipedia is an international repository and the phrase is not really understood outside of Ireland in my experience.
The wikipedia page on Denominational education and the link to it should clear up any problems with the phrase not being understood by those outside Ireland. However the use of "segregation" is still loaded. Perhaps it would be better to say something like: In 2008, the Institute organised a conference in support of denominational education, which has come under criticism - using the same references as on the Denominational education page. That way, it avoids WP:EDITORIAL and gives context instead.Autarch (talk) 18:05, 2 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
