It happens on occasion... the bot isn't perfect but you should see the amount of crap it picks up every day... false positives like yours are a tiny tiny fraction of the edits it makes.... it is close to 98% now, it really is :) -- Tawker 05:02, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Michigan Radio information

With so many different articles currently listing Michigan radio station information, I have created a handy template so editors can make changes across all entries for consistency:

I've got most of the articles on watch, so that when changes are made (such as the recent change involving WLKB and WTRK that you noted), I can go ahead and do the cleanup work. I do appologize for calling you a vandal though. Although I don't know how I would have fit "reverting good-faith effort that was misguided or ill-considered" into the edit summary. They only give you so many characters. Seriously though, I can't believe I'm actually having trouble convincing somebody that a person who has been talked about in the national media for weeks is notable. It blows my mind. I guess that's why I assumed you were just revertiung to cause trouble. You really can't tell this person is notable? It's right there in the first section of the page you keep pointing me to. One last thing, if you feel so strongly in your convictions about notability. Then revert the page back.....but before you do, since you are so right about this, then remove JonBenet Ramsey from this page first. Since, according to you, "murders happen everyday", then JonBenet really doesn't belong on that page and shouldn't have an article either for that matter. After that you can get busy deleting the Chandra Levy and Lacy Peterson articles as well. I'll get busy compiling a list a murder victim articles for you to delete. North Borneo

In this diff, your summary is "m (Repairing link to disambiguation page - You can help!)". Which kinda makes it look like the previous edit (by me) caused a problem by adding an internal wikilink to a disambiguation page. In fact the term you wikilinked was never previously linked to a disambiguation page, as far as I can tell. Perhaps a more accurate edit summery would have been "Adding internal wikilink to Local government". Thanks, Jerry 22:02, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Actually, the link I fixed was there before you added any links. It was correct at one time, but then they split up the page "administration" and made it a disambiguate page. So every link that used to go to that page (close to 800 at one time) has to be fixed now to point to one of the new pages. I can't take credit for finding the error though, they come up automatically on this page. It's one of the many projects going on on this site. Thanks RobDe68 00:28, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Moving current MLB roster pages to new template pages

Hi ... When moving the current roster pages to the new template pages, first make the edits to the current roster page, then click the move link to create th new template page. Don't just copy and paste the contents of the old page into the new page. This way, we don't leave the page histories behind with the old roster pages. At least I think I've got this process right. I kinda messed up on the Tigers and Kansas City pages because I created the templates first and realized I couldn't move afterwards. I followed the "merge pages" protocol so the histories should be moved to the template page if I marked it correctly. The Royals roster page was further complicated by the fact that they had their all-time roster page in with their current roster page. I split them up since every other all-time roster has it's own article. I did the White Sox page correctly and will do the rest like that (third time's a charm I guess). I will keep up with the Tigers and Royals roster pages to make sure the histories get merged with the template page.RobDe68 19:14, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Someone did the same thing with the LA Angels roster. They created a brand new template page from scratch rather than moving the existing roster page. How do we get the old roster page history and talk page moved over? --Sanfranman59 21:55, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

There are two ways I think. I'm trying the easier way first. On WP:MM, it says how to initiate a merge yourself and mark the redirect as a merge. Then I guess an admin knows to merge the histories. If that doesn't work the only other way is to have an admin delete the new template page and then move the roster page the normal way. I should have remembered how much of a pain it was to move after a page has an edit when I was trying to fix copy/pastes as part of the radio project.RobDe68 22:03, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

You can't unless you're an admin. But you can set it up for them. WP:HISTMERGE explains it pretty well. I had this same problem when somebody was moving radio pages around last summer and somebody else kept trying to fix them by copy/paste method. It took a day or two, but I got them all fixed eventually.RobDe68 01:40, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. Temporary deletion of Lok Satta for a history merge with Lok satta

I thought it wise, to bring it to your knowledge about the creation of Lok Satta, and the "cut paste" of the article from Lok satta. This is to move the article to the correct version of the name. I read your "Temporary deletion" sign , for a history merge. Please do it, as deemed wise by your kind self, with the deletion only for a short duration. Maroth

Not that it matters, but an ESPN link does not prove the trade has happened, especially when neither team has announced it. Obviously it is pretty much inevitable, but to make these changes right now are technically inaccurate. News sources publish "reports" before they are official.Chris Nelson 19:48, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Everything you've said is irrelevant. The FACT is the trade has not officially been announced, therefore editing it on Wikipedia as if it has been is technically irrelevant. DaimlerChrysler link "repairs"

I noticed your work with this when you edited DaimlerChrysler-Mitsubishi alliance, and when I checked your recent edit history noticed that you had been systematically making these changes. Please note that there's no need to fix links pointing to "DaimlerChrysler". As per WP:REDIRECT#Do not change links to redirects that are not broken, "there should never be a need to replace [[redirect]] with [[target|redirect]]."

I think this is doubly true when talking about the former company in a historical context. Just because something no longer exists does not mean we should expunge all references to it, which is why I think this edit was unwise, and should be reverted (or at least restored and edited to reflect that it is a former stock symbol).
