All-Americans

AFAIK, there is no such thing as Consensus Second-Team. I mostly work on football however. Where did the lingo come from? From what I understand there are three types of All-Americans (plus second and third-team):

1. Player on at least one First-Team of lists recognized for consensus.
2. Player on at least half of the First-Teams of recognized lists is considered Consensus All-American.
3. Player on all of the First-Teams of recognized lists is considered Unanimous All-American.

Players who make no first-teams are generally described by their highest team of the recognized lists. E.g., In 2003, Kirk Hinrich was a Third-team All-American, Kyle Korver was a Second-team All-American, Carmelo Anthony was an All-American, Hollis Price was a consensus All-American and David West (basketball) was a unanimous All-American.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 02:58, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

2008-09 ACC Men's Basketball Season

Thanks for the kind words. I'm no maverick of Wikipedia, but I had been under the assumption that you only linked the first occurrence of an item in a section or even a page. I did a little research and did find the Wikipedia policy that talks about "over linking". General guidelines are to only link the first occurrence in a section, but tables are excluded from that. So if you want to go ahead and re-link everything thats fine with me.

This article has a lot of potential. I'm hoping we can add a lot more true content as opposed to just a bunch of lists and tables. As I come across info I'll continue to update. The ACC is the class of college basketball and it's Wikipedia pages should reflect that. Jober14 (talk) 03:17, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Re: Notable Undrafted

I realized that the section exists in every NBA draft article. But since reviewers at featured list review believe that the section is highly objective (Who is to say who is more notable among undrafted picks?), it was taken out as a result. Cheers.—Chris! _ct 01:12, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Help on Haggerty Award

I was wondering if you could help me out on the Haggerty Award since you created it. What needs to be done that would take entirely too long and tedious to do by myself is finding all of the positions and class years of the listed players for the year that they won that award. I did all of them on the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year and it took forever. Anyway, just wondering if you'd help me out. Thanks in advance. I do my best to find the actual position, but if no real discernible position can be found, then I just put Forward, Guard or Center. It's pretty clear to an average reader that no specific position is listed because it probably either can't be found or it wasn't ever established. Jrcla2 ^talk 14:40, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

Big Ten / Summit / MAC

I will do the Big Ten as well as the University of Michigan basketball seasons. I will not likely do any other conferences. I would hope that everyone who did a conference last year will the same one this year and other conferences will notice. CAA

I'm willing to attempt the CAA page, but I'll give an honest warning up front that I'm probably not going to go very in-depth with it. To make a quality NCAA basketball season article requires a lot of writing, researching and upkeep. I bring that point up because I have a slight ADHD problem when it comes to Wikipedia – if I make a page, you can be sure it'll be of the utmost quality work, but sometimes the tasks themselves get too big for me to maintain (such is the risk that this page creation poses). Also, making (or even contributing to) a conference's basketball season article is brand new territory to me, so I'm not really sure what it is I need to even do, know what I mean? Again, I'll volunteer for the 2009–10 CAA article, but I might request assistance (it doesn't necessarily have to be from you, I could just leave a message on WikiProject CBB's talk page). My thinking is that many redlinks may take care of themselves as the draft approaches. If you want to create them go a head. I assume you would want to be a co-nominator. Getting ready for WP:FLC. You may have noticed that I did an overhaul of 2010 NCAA Men's Basketball All-Americans to get it ready. I am wondering if you want to get some of the older lists ready. At one point you mentioned that you would add Academic All-American teams. If you do this and I add sortable tables at the top and some text we could produce these backwards for several years. Division I Independents POY

Is there any master list of NCAA Division I Independents Men's Basketball Players of the Year? I can't seem to find one anywhere. I see where Seattle University's Charles Garcia was recently named the D-I Independent Player of the Year, but I'd like to be able to make a navbox and list article for it too.
