Please feel free to assign yourself tasks from the list of unassigned tasks at Wikipedia:Cleanup Taskforce. Arranging assignments is too much work for me to do by myself. Re: Creating user account

Hi. Finally got around to creating the account I promised (I was the one involved in the Mark Clattenburg discussion).

It's disappointing to hear of situations in which the authorities have let down a referee in terms of support and it's certainly not the first time I've heard mention of this, even with my limited experience. With the level of respect referees are shown at the top levels taking a big slide in recent seasons, it's particularly frustrating that the FA time and again choose to keep silent over controversial performances. At the very least, they should take the opportunity to point out the meaning of the phrase 'at the discretion of the referee' to the public after such instances as the recent Merseyside derby. I, for one, would have had my nerve tested after receiving such criticism without any backing.

I greatly appreciate the welcome to Wikipedia and, although I suspect I will be an infrequent user, I look forward to bumping into you again soon. All the best. Tugoh 23:03, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I have been having a bad-luck streak lately. I broke my glasses, I left some stuff at my workspace, I got stuck behind a slow-driving truck, which caused me to be late to an appointment, and there were a few spyware/phishing attacks on my computer (which caused me to change my password on wikipedia). Clattenberg (again sorry)

That derby game was controversial...I take your point that there is no need to go into the minutiae of the various incidents but A: The version I edited was clunky and B: it makes no mention of the other incidents. Penalty appeals come and go, you win some you lose some. The reason the game is noteworthy is because there was 4 or 5 controversial decisions. It is important to note this otherwise it looks like the home fans are getting wound-up by one single incident. This patently isn't the case. Either record the facts or don't mention the game at all. Seriously, I don't see why you edit out my completely factual, none-abusive entry RoyalBlueStuey 09:23, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

PS I added my points above to the Clattenburg talk page...I wonder if Marc really knows how much trouble he caused lolololol. That was a VERY murky business though a ref who goes away with a team on a pre-season jolly and then is seen to be told which card to dish out, takes a solid 30 seconds of angry abuse, lets a two-footer go and then waves away very credible penalty claim etc etc. All against the home team! I don't care if my address is visible. Wikipedia in general and this person in particular is participating in the protection of an incompetent and possibly corrupt referee. They won't hear a word against him.

I searched Wikipedia for intelligent comment on this individual, because I wanted to know what was going on with this cretin. I corrected a couple of obvious RS comments and get a ban from editing. David Bowie

I removed genres that were too vague or inaccurate. For example, Bowie most certainly never played Krautrock. WesleyDodds (talk) 12:06, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Krautrock is by definition German progressive rock of the early to mid 1970s. While Bowie was certainly inspired by the music, he himself was not a Krautrock artist. It's like how the Bangles can't be a British Invasion band, being an American group from the 1980s, no matter how much they draw influence from British Invasion groups. William Rawson

I note that you have started an article on the above named. As he seems to have played in the 1874 FA Cup Final (with his brother on the opposite side) and the 1877 FA Cup Final presumably this should be mentioned in the article.

Here is the archived discussion regarding the deletion of the above image. There were no dissenting opinions, so I deleted the image. It is a very low resolution image and there were three other higher resolution images on the page already. Regarding the Geany Entry

Thanks for explaining some issues regarding the geany article. I do admit that it is the editor i currently use as I feel it suits my needs as a programmer best. The main reason I wouldn't want it deleted is because one of the most useful purposes for me when I use wikipedia(besides looking up information itself) is when I see the entries that list similar pieces of software (list of video editors, list of open source games, list of audio editors, etc) which lets me quickly go through and find the best one that suits my needs. I am hoping to keep Geany on there for a similar purpose for other users as a link from the "list of text editors" article on wikipedia that contains links to similar programs such as scribes,gedit,etc. I hope the admin undeletes it because of this, however I understand that such a choice is "in their court" so to speak.

Hi again, Rob. I understand your frustration; there are indeed useful lists of this and that in Wikipedia, masquerading as articles mainly, but their inclusion has always been contentious, on points of notability mainly. Moderate lists started off being approved as a small part of a parent article, progressing from there to become articles containing just a list of notable items, such as the List of social networking websites, and proven as notable by each entry in the list being linked to its Wikipedia article (thus controversially transferring notability from the item to the list itself, although notability by association is normally a big no-no here).

I too have favourite subjects in life which I think would deserve an article. However, I realise that I shouldn't get involved in the creation or expansion of such articles (unless I believed that I could truly approach the subject from a neutral point of view, and that's more difficult sometimes than you think).

Bands are in scope because they are covered by Wikipedia:WikiProject Musicians, a child project of WikiProject Biography. That said, Slipknot (band) doesn't really need assessing as it's already a GA and is a current FAC candidate. They could seek an A-class review but it wouldn't make much sense whilst it's at FAC. Well, objection or not you specifically said "How ridiculous - I wouldn't dream of using that template, ever!" I obviously brought it up because I wanted to know why you think it is so ridiculous and why you would not use it. Are you saying it assumes bad faith on part of the reverters? That's certainly not the intention, and I don't see how they would get that message. Clara Clemens/Susy Clemens

I disagree with you about the notability of these two. They're notable for being daughters of Twain. Susy was the inspiration for characters in Twain's works. She was also the author of a biography of her father that has been separately published along with a biography of her. Hi. I have no dispute with anyone over Clara Clemens. I told you that. What I do not accept is that Susy Clemens becomes notable for 1. writing a biography about her father, or 2. being the subject of a biography, or (as I have already said) 3. merely being the daughter of Mark Twain. Notability is not transferable. I have read the article, I have read external webpages about her short life, and I still say that her notability is in question. I will not be pursuing this, but be prepared for someone somewhen to come along and put it forward for deletion at some point - I believe it will happen. Thanks. Sorry, but I disagree with you. Notability is established by having people interested enough in her to write about her life, which they have, and to publish her writings, which they have. Being the inspiration for works by her father is also notable. It's not a candidate for deletion now or later. I'll be expanding the articles on Clara, Jean and Olivia Langdon Clemens when I have more time.
