Speedy deletion nomination of File:FeuNewSeaLogo.png edit

A tag has been placed on File:FeuNewSeaLogo.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. July 2012 edit

Please do not use styles that are unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Thank you. Among other details, there are very specific instructions not to use flagicon in infoboxes, not to use excessive detail in headers, not to use nonstandard formatting of tables, etc. DMacks (talk) 14:19, 27 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Official Far Eastern University Logo.png edit

Thank you for uploading File:Official Far Eastern University Logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. DMacks (talk) 14:21, 27 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Flag icon edit

The guideline I explicitly cited (WP:INFOBOXFLAG) states:

"Generally, flag icons should not be used in infoboxes, even when there is a "country", "nationality" or equivalent field: they are unnecessarily distracting and give undue prominence to one field among many. ... Flag icons should only be inserted in infoboxes in those cases where they convey information in addition to the text. Flag icons are visually distracting in infoboxes and lead to unnecessary disputes when over-used."

Feel free to help bring other pages into compliance if you find problems on them. But using other pagess' poor format to justify your own does not make your page any better. DMacks (talk) 15:07, 27 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:WikiProject_Schools/Article_guidelines#Infobox_contents also states: "Do not include: ... Flag icons". DMacks (talk) 15:28, 27 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:University of Antique Logo.png edit

Thanks for uploading File:University of Antique Logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 23:29, 4 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
