Welcome! edit

Hello, Rasikareddy1019, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please complete the student training, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Apis dorsata edit

Nice work expanding the Apis dorsata article. However, I noticed that you used numbered references instead of inline citations. Numbered references are very difficult to maintain as an article changes over time and people add more sources. In addition, there's the always a risk (as you have done) of forgetting to list the references. Please use the "cite" tool to create references - these are automatically formatted and are easy to maintain and the article expands and changes. Thanks. Your recent edits edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 18:23, 22 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Spamming with examples edit

Please don't randomly add examples of (your favourite?) species to multiple examples - they will be reverted, and you could be blocked for disruptive editing. Also, do not make uncited claims.

I see you are a student. We don't wish to be unfriendly, but editing on Wikipedia (beyond trivial changes like fixing typographic errors) requires you to learn one or two skills and to consider where edits will be appropriate. Two quick points: 1) the lead section of an article is a summary of the rest of the article, so you should not add anything there that is not already in the article; 2) every fact you add to an article must be relevant and useful in that article, and it must be cited with a suitable reliable reference. Please read the basics of Wikipedia before editing further; after that, good luck, and remember you can ask other editors for help if you are unclear about anything.
