Born in 1983 in Istog Kosovo, he finished his primary and secondary education in his home country.

In 2001 he graduated in computer studies. At the age of 21 he started his professional musical training

and one year later he began his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana Albania, where he graduated

as the most distinguished student in 2008.

From 2009 to 2011 Rame Lahaj worked as the artistic director at the RTV 21 channel in Kosovo.In 2010 Lahaj made his appearance in the international operatic scene with the role of Alfredo Germont in La Traviata in the 50th anniversary of Eutin Festival in Germany.

The same year was quite rewarding for the young tenor; he won 2 prestigious international competitions: the “Riccardo Zandonai” competition in Riva del Garda (Italy) and the “Ritorna Vincitore” competition in Naples Italy, where he also got the special award as the best singer for Neapolitan songs.

A first major success was his debut at the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest in 2011 with the role of Macduff/Macbeth. Later he sang Alfredo in Theater Lübeck Germany, for which he got excellent critical acclaims from the German press as “the best discovery of German operatic scene”. In 2012 he made his debuts with the role of Rodolfo/La Bohème at the Theater Dortmund Germany.

Later that year he performed the same role in France at National Opéra de Montpellier. His Italian debut turned out to be a great success with the performance of Rigoletto in the role of Duca di Mantova at Teatro Massimo di Palermo.

Lahaj had a great success during the season 2013/14 at Semperoper Dresden as Duca di Mantova/Rigoletto , Alfredo/La Traviata and Rodolfo/La Boheme. Moreover he performed Rodolfo/La Bohème at Royal Albert Hall in London.

In March/April/May 2014 he debuted the major roles as Alfredo/LaTraviata at the Hamburg State Opera, Duca di Mantova/Rigoletto at Deutsche Oper Berlin and Duca di Mantova /Rigoletto at the La Monnaie Brussels.

In 2014/15 he will sing Duca di Mantova/Rigoletto at Haus fur Mozart in Salzburg,Alfredo/La Traviata & Duca di Mantova/Rigoletto at Polish National Opera in Warsaw,Pinkerton/Madama Butterfly at the Las Palmas in Spain ,Alfredo/La Traviata at the Sydney Opera House in Australia. He will also perform Pinkerton/Madama Butterfly at the Puccini Festival Torre del Lago in Itally, Edgardo/Lucia di Lamermoor at Opéra Théâtre de Limoges etc.

During his relatively short but successful career as an operatic singer he has already worked with important conductors like Carlo Rizzi,Evelino Pidò and Gustav Kuhn and stage directors like Robert Dornhelm and Henning Brockhaus.
