Talk page messaging

Hi, it was brought to my attention that you had posted the same message to a large number of user pages regarding the POV dispute on Persian Gulf. I will try and explain how these sorts of disputes are usually resolved so that you can better understand the processes we have in place. First the talk page on the individual article is the first place you should go if you have a dispute about something that pertains to that article specifically, as this does. This may sometimes seem slow, as you will very often have to wait a number of days for a full response. This is normal, and you shouldn't escalate the situation just because no one responds in a few hours for example.

If you are dealing with an article that gets little or no attention, or you are in an argument that you think needs a few more voices use Wikipedia:Requests for comment. This is a centralized place for people to see situations that might need further input. The point of both of these processes is to have the information on the page in which it is most relevant. While it might seem like a fast solution to leave a message on 20 people's talk page, it's not looked upon well by the community because it decentralizes the discussion to which everyone might want to be a contributor. For example what if 10 of those people start having conversations with you on their talk page, that quickly becomes unmanageable. I hope I have explained the reasoning behind how these things are usually done. I'm going to go ahead and revert the messages, you should probably list your arguments on Talk:Persian Gulf if you haven't already. If you want to read more about it have a look at the spamming page. No problem. I've already been watching those two pages for quite awhile. One thing I recommend is that you never use the word "vandalism" haphazardly. It can be considered uncivil to do so. Well, what I can say is that it's never a good idea to do full reverts. It appears you reverted the article back to a much earlier version. The problem with those kind of reverts is that they destroy a lot of work by the editors in-between. Perhaps you could make a partial revert, and only restore what you wanted to restore. Also, only admins can protect pages. The page is not currently protected (see log), so there's no need to add the {{sprotected2}} tag. Khoikhoi 22:44, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, I don't think he meant to insult you, he was just trying to explain to you that it's best to discuss changes rather than trying to implement them by edit warring. If you use the former method, and try to come to a consensus with other users, then you'll probably get to add your info in the article more easily. I don't think he was trying to say he was the sole expert on the subject, either. I think they're trying to say that the Arabic name should not be mentioned in the intro, but further down below in the "naming dispute" section. Khoikhoi 01:36, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Warning: respect wikipedia rules

Ralhazzaa, this is another warning to you to stop canvassing regarding recent disputes on Persian Gulf related articles. According to this evidence [1] you are continuing to canvass users again, only a couple of hours after a polite and clear warning was given to you. Therefore it seems that you are knowingly and intentionally continuing disruptive activities in Wikipedia. If you do not stop such behavior, you will be reported as an abuser through proper channels, which could eventually lead to your banning from Wikipedia. This is not evidence, friend. This link included merely shows that he is asking advice from another user, mostly about this accusation of yours, and is in no way considered a 'disruptive' activity. It is not wrong to ask questions, rather it is encouraged, and the fact that he is asking it on ar.wk could be for obvious language reasons. Please, take caution before you make such accusations next time, as they can be harmful both to the user and to wikipedia as a whole in the case of false accusations. Thanks. Update

User:Ralhazzaa is not a new user, he's clearly familiar with the INs and OUTs of Wikipedia both here and on Arabic wikipedia, he's been citing Wiki policies which is another sign of his familiarity with Wikipedia, yet he's deliberately ignoring admin warnings regarding his ongoing disruptive spamming/canvassing campaign. After numerous admin warnings and even after your own warning, he continues canvassing users on Arabic wikipedia to this minute [2] for meat-puppetry purposes on English wikipedia. I've been told that User:Ralhazzaa is also canvassing users on IRC chat's Arabic wikipedia channel. Please look into this issue, and take any actions necessary. Is it programmed personal attck, Mardavich? I can't understand why u and others "warning" me in my personal page and discuss openly with other users what punishment I should recieve? Why you want to blam me as many opposing POVs are coming? I could also know that you had accused another users of being meat-puppets in ar.wk! I am urging everyone to calm down and take it easy. We have talked about canvassing before and the link provided above as an evidence of a spamming/canvassing campaign is not 100% correct. In fact, Ralhazzaa was asking for a legal advice from an ar.wiki user which is legitimate.

However, Ralhazzaa forgot that asking someone (especially from anothr wiki) to participate in a debate where he never participated at is a kind of meat-puppetry (see Wiki Meatpuppets) although he didn't ask User:Islamic what to do apart from a legal advice.

The translation of what has been said is the following:

I've been accused lately by a user of sending a collective message across wikipedia in relation to the article Arabian Gulf through the ar wikipedia. Can you provide me with legal advice and share our debate? I am talking about the article in the Arabian Gulf. I also hope you configure your email account.

Now, let get this very straight. Ralhazzaa, you are asked formally now to stop doing what you've been doing. If you really need a legal advice, you can do it but you should never again try to ask people to join a debate where they never participated at especially from outside the en.wiki. Indeed, we got plenty of admins HERE who will be willing to help you in this matter. Mardavich, you cannot follow any user all the way long and try to scrutinize their edits. neutrality tag

Hi Ralhazzaa. Regarding the article Persian Gulf, I think it's ok now to leave it without a neutrality tag, because of the consensus that has been reached on the talk page. I know the lead is not perfect, and it can be much better, but if you keep adding the neutrality tag with everyone reverting you, it's not gonna help you. 3RR rule on Persian Gulf

Hi, Ralhazaa. I have noticed that you reverted the article Persian Gulf seven times during 24 hours period. It is strictly forbidden by the WP:3RR policy. The only exemption that might permit such an edit war would be simple vandalism, that was obviously not the case. WP:MOS does not permit cluttering the lead of an article with irrelevant or hardly relevant non-English names. So while referring to one or two foreign names (e.g Arabic Gulf in Arabic and Persian Gulf in Farsi makes sense, cluttering it with a great number of hardly used names is not. Maybe we should make a separate section for all the names but putting them all to the lead is absurd.

Please in future:

• avoid labelling vandalism good faith edits

Hi Alex,

The difinition of Vandalisim saying it is any addition, removal, or change of content made in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia.

What I did is to protect the article of evacuting of resourced info, that may not make others happy.. but it is the fact.

It is clear simple vandalisim to remove text and resourced info by IP registered user repeatedly without explaining or discussing it (this happened for at leat 5 times). Another time, a Silly Vandalism has been done by user Gersh77 by inserting nonsens to the article lead (This Gulf also called in ARabic as the American Gulf) that is obvoius silly vandalisim has nothing to do with good faith as he is estblished user but of different POV. (note that he even throw some trash in my Talk Page without reason or comment, just for revenge). I don't consider my protecting of the article is 3RR as no one of our busy admins give it a look since a while. By then, IP users, socks puppet and other editors were playing political game here. Can you tell me if somebody changed the rule of WP to not consider Refs as good thing?

Please note that I inserted more historical names because users of the other POV wanted this statment in the lead. I opposed this, and still, but they want it for political reasons.

I would like to ask you for taking an intiative and keep only one name in Arabic: Arabian Gulf, and Farsi: Persian Gulf to end this edit war. Actually, I asked for this many times in the discussions, but Iranian users pushing us (Arab users) to call this sea as Persian Gulf in Arabic!!!... while u can see the refs I brought up (UN documentaions in Arabic, Academy of the Arabic Lang, Arab Geog. Soc., Arab League' documentations, wide media reports (Aljazeera, Alarabiya..). However, when they insisted to insert the name "Persian Gulf" as Arabic name, I tag it with Fact, as it really not true and lacks refs and we shouldn't mislead our readers here. I am not sure what do you mean by "evacuting of resourced info", but as a speaker of Arabic, I am aware that this gulf is called Persian in many older books as mentioned on article's talk page. Furthermore, you are still calling good faith edits of the IP editor and myself as "nonsens", "silly vandalisim", and "trash". Current issues

You may manage your own talk page as you please. So you could choose to remove old warnings placed by Gerash77. I would also suggest that you continue in your efforts to seek consensus prior to editing the disputed page. This effort will be helped by the page having been protected. Would u plz notice that he is using uncivil language: "why are you trying to bring your "mummy" into discussion". Why should I assume good faith with such uncivil user insisting to destroy (and insult) rather than build up? Sigh... It seems as if every dispute related to something Persian or something Arab eventually gets reduced to an us Persians vs. us Arabs thing. There are many decent Arab and Persian editors who do their best to keep discussions on point, but there's always someone (or some-two or some-three) out there who has to take the low road paved with petty ethnic jabs. Is the nationalism due to something in the water? Honestly, I'd expect more Arab and Persian editors to be embarrassed that they're being portrayed on Wikipedia as a bunch of toddlers who resort to silly attacks and then cry to their mommies when they get their feelings hurt. Hi Alison, sorry for the previous comment. It was due to the 2nd time throwing of tags of unjustified warning by that fellow in my page (just for personal revenge, while he is asking me to assume good faith!). I felt that he did so as he didn't receive the correct directing from u as the admin who protected the page. Hello, I don't know who I should speak to about this important matter. The Golan article has been taking over by Israelis and they have removed everything mentioning an occupation and changed it to "disputed" They have also removed the "the neutrality of this article is disputed" that was on top of the article while it is written in a completely pro-Israeli way. Thanks for your note. As you can follow the article intro and cuisines of the Levant (Syria, Lebanon, Palestine), it is more clear to say that this food item is of Syrian (Bilad ash-Sham) origin. It doesn't mean the modern-day Syrian Arab republic of course, and the interwiki links indicates this clearly. This is just to distinguish it from being a pan-Arabian food item which is not completely true. As a resident/visitor of these regions, I have a tendency to say that is highly predicted that this food item has been originated from Aleppo area, but can't validate this proposal due to the cultural mix and the structural historical evolution of the Levantian cuisine.

About File:Admiral Kuznetsov aircrafts.jpg and others: Did you really buy the whole picture with all its rights from that agency? Wow, that must have been expensive. Or did you merely acquire a one-off license giving you the right to include the picture somewhere in your own publication, the way people normally acquire licenses from news agencies? Because, in that case, the copyright would have remained theirs; you didn't acquire the right to give away unlimited new licenses to others. Nomination of Academy of the Arabic Language in Cairo for deletion
