Wikipedia Help Survey

edit

Hi there, my name's Peter Coombe and I'm a Wikimedia Community Fellow working on a project to improve Wikipedia's help system. At the moment I'm trying to learn more about how people use and find the current help pages. If you could help by filling out this brief survey about your experiences, I'd be very grateful. It should take less than 10 minutes, and your responses will not be tied to your username in any way.

Thank you for your time,

India-Netherlands relations

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of India-Netherlands relations, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.government.nl/issues/international-relations/india.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) It turns out this source is in the public domain, so there's no big problem, but next time please cite your sources. I noticed you also copy-pasted parts of Dutch India without showing attribution (or fixing the wiki-syntax, for that matter). Please refer to WP:COPYWITHIN: you have to attribute material to its original author. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 13:45, 1 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Jim1138. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Karna, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Jim1138 (talk) 05:14, 20 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello Jim,
First of all, the things that I have edited are mentioned in the Mahabharata itself. For reference they are available in the BORI critical edition and also in the KMG version of the Mahabharata. Therefore I didn't think it was necessary to mention the source of my edits again because the source is already mentioned there in the page itself. If you don't believe me please give them a read.
Currently the page contains information like, "Karna couldn't string the bow in Draupadi's swayamvar. He failed like many other suitors." I would like to know the source of this information. It is clearly mentioned in Mahabharata that Karna was able to string the bow and was about to hit the release when Draupadi stopped him and barred him from firing the arrow because he was born in a low caste. There are several versions of Mahabharata but none has ever mentioned the failure of Karna in Draupadi swayamvar.
Brother, everyone looks for true and unbiased information on Wikipedia but reverting my edits on the page "Karna" this page now looks like a very page with very biased information. There are several grammatical mistakes in the page too now. The information it contains is also very different from that present in the source of the information in the page.
I think you're not from India. If you are please forgive me. Nowadays there has been a lot of heated arguments among Arjuna and Karna fans in India. It seems apparently that some ardent Arjuna fan has edited the page, which previously contained very unbiased and neutral information into a biased page with a lot of wrong information some four to five months ago.
I would like to have my edits restored in the page with all due respect. The sources of them, as I have said already are mentioned in the page. "KMG Mahabharata" and "BORI critical edition" of Mahabharata. Please restore my edits or let me do the same and please don't change them again.

Per the top of my talk page User talk:Jim1138, please keep the conversation on one page.
Your addition: "Some sources claim that he was an Atimaharathi class warrior." Is a dead giveaway that some of your content is unsourced. Such a conclusion, if yours, is wp:original research and should not be used. Simply stating "it's in the book" is insufficient. The only credibility that Wikipedia has is that it is wp:verifiable. i.e. detailed citations: wp:cite a wp:reliable source. See help:footnotes and wp:referencing for beginners. Please supply a page number for the content you added. There are tricks to adding a common book with multiple page numbers. All edits are saved in the wp:page history. You need to clarify references for your content. Please use wp:notifications with your reply. Beware, it is a bit tricky. Jim1138 (talk) 02:41, 22 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Also, when citing a book, please use an ISBN or ASIN so people can easily find a copy. This may be necessary if different printings have different pages associated with the citation. Jim1138 (talk) 02:44, 22 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
