Copyright, promotion, and conflict of interest

edit

It is rarely acceptable to post text which appears on other web sites to Wikipedia, for a number of reasons, including the fact that doing so is usually an infringement of copyright. Even if you are, or work for, the copyright owner, Wikipedia needs proof of copyright release, as anyone can create a Wikipedia account and claim to own copyright that they don't own. (That is not an academic point: it does happen, very frequently.) Also, there is no such thing as giving copyright permission for use only on Wikipedia: under Wikipedia's terms of use, if you post any text whatever on Wikipedia you are announcing that you are licensing that text freely, for anyone in the world to reuse, either modified or unmodified. Any article which infringes copyright is liable to summary deletion without warning, and editors who continue to infringe copyright may be blocked from editing. Editing Wikipedia for promotional purposes is unacceptable, and this too can lead to summary deletion and blocking. Even if someone does not intend to edit in promotional way, if they have a close personal or professional involvement with the subject they are writing about it may be difficult for them to write from a neutral point of view, and for that reason Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline discourages us from writing on subjects with which we have such an involvement. Speedy deletion nomination of GJ Singh

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on GJ Singh requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 22:38, 23 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Puja Gupta, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Peta (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
