If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, if your class doesn't already have one. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.

A page you started (Belonogaster petiolata) has been reviewed!

edit

Thanks for creating Belonogaster petiolata, Probertsg!

Wikipedia editor Oiyarbepsy just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

Did you copy and paste this from another page? Doing that doesn't work very well since it causes a lot of problems with formatting

Hi, I have no criticism of the content of the article, but it was inappropriately nominated for DYK by an inexperienced edit who clearly wasn't aware himself of our Manual of Style requirements. Not your fault, and new fauna article are always welcoms. Another edit has greatly improved the formatting of the page, looks pretty good now Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:51, 27 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Article assessment

edit

Thanks for your good work on wasp articles and for engaging in article assessment. I just wanted to give you a little feedback on this edit. I think you are correct in your assessment of the article quality - it has improved a lot. On the other hand, the article importance probably hasn't changed and it probably isn't High importance either among African topics or Insect articles as a whole. For example, if you look at WikiProject Africa's importance scale a High importance article is meant to include things like major subdivisions of African countries. In the context of the continent of Africa or Insects (as a whole) Belonogaster petiolata is probably a pretty minor topic. That doesn't mean it's unimportant, and it certainly doesn't mean that it isn't deserving of an excellent article.

Hope this helps. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:04, 16 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Did you know...?

edit

Thank you for your recent contribution to Parachartergus fraternus.

I wonder if you would like to consider submitting it as a candidate for the "Did you know...?" feature. DYKs (as they are commonly called) are short snippets taken from Wikipedia's newest articles and, if approved, appear on the Main Page. You can learn more about this at Wikipedia:Did you know.

Your article Parachartergus fraternus appears to meet the criteria for submission as a DYK. If you choose to submit a short (and interesting) fact from your article, please read the rules and the supplementary guidelines carefully. Please ask me if you have further questions.

According to the DYK tool, your article was created or expanded on October 16. DYKs must be nominated within 7 days of the creation or 5-fold expansion of the article, so if you choose to submit your article, please act quickly! Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 18:40, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
