Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, PivotTeamWeb. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Pivot Airlines, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. JeffUK (talk) 16:11, 31 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please refrain from making unreferenced edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Pivot Airlines. Your edits are disruptive and unconstructive and have been reverted. If you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial. Repeated unrefenced edits may result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Lavalizard101 (talk) 16:44, 31 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Also per WP:BRD when your edit is removed, its ON YOU to discuss. Don't just readd it and ignore the concerns. Lavalizard101 (talk) 16:47, 31 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

edits provided have added reference

Only one statement you added had a source. You need a source for every paragraph. Lavalizard101 (talk) 16:52, 31 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Further your username suggests a connection with the airline. As per WP:COI and WP:PAID you must disclose this. Lavalizard101 (talk) 16:52, 31 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Citations added COI added in update summary although likely not necessary. Old post is very very dated updates were necessary to reflect current business activities

Hello PivotTeamWeb. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Pivot Airlines, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:PivotTeamWeb. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=PivotTeamWeb|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 18:04, 31 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

COI was added - old text is very dated and citations applied - if you delete again please be more specific and ony remove the items you think are in question or do not provide the correct citations. If we are not providing the correct COI as we have in the edit info please advise who as this has been done for 10+ years (not saying it is correct - and will to correct) but edits are legitimate with citations provided. Your are regressing to an untrue state

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Star Mississippi 20:01, 31 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

all sources referenced by citation, COI noted twice. Info on old page as restored is grossly inaccurate and dated PivotTeamWebPivotTeamWeb (talk) 22:01, 31 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

This does not address the reasons for the block at all. Please review the notice above and the policies linked to therein, as well as the unblock appeals guide, before requesting unblock. Please follow the instructions to make an unblock request that simultaneously proposes a new username. 331dot (talk) 23:28, 31 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

The post was in no way advertising nor promotional - it was factual based on many changes and public announcements and was factually supported by citations. If there are specific examples of errors please highlight and remove them - it is my intent to always fully comply. The company has made major announcements per the citations. Some information on the old page was posted by unknown sources, without citations and was incorrect and suspect posted by competitors. I have reviewed the post and the block and understand the concern but feel the administrator failed to review the citations once I added them, as I was happy to do once informed of the need - I am requesting a name change as I understand it does not comply when making edits to a Pivot page PivotTeamWebPivotTeamWeb (talk) 00:40, 1 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

The past editing was clearly inappropriate. If you don't see that, I'm afraid you are too close to your subject matter to be objective. Your style of editing would be suitable for posting on Pivot Airline's marketing site, where people expect to roll their eyes a bit at the marketing speak, but is completely inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If your only goal here is to write about Pivot Airlines, this is the end of the line. Yamla (talk) 11:02, 6 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Rather than waiting for an approved name change or unblock, created and editing as Special:Contributions/AirportwatcherTO (now blocked). Star Mississippi 18:09, 1 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

globally renamed PivotTeamWeb to FlyerfromTO. Noting the user name is not the only reason for the block. --Deepfriedokra (talk) 19:21, 5 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Blocked for sockpuppetry

edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abusing multiple accounts per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/FlyerfromTO. Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  -- RoySmith (talk) 16:17, 2 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
