Managing a conflict of interest
editHello, Piranha Petey. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Brett Ratner, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 21:15, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, I have no interest in this page other than finding out user FMSky has been removing Ratner's credit as one of the directors of the tv series Prison Break. Upon checking the user history he has often changed information that was then reverted by other editors. So it appears to me that it is user FMSky to have a conflict of interest with the page. If you go to his Talk Page he deleted my comment and request for clarification twice. I believe he should explain why he keeps deleting Ratner as a director of Prison Break. - User FMSky has been deleting Brett Ratner credit as one of the directors of the series Prison Break. His claim on his talk page is that it's not relevant enough. I have no interest in this bio page, but I am familiar with the tv series and 3 sources were cited. If you scroll through user FMSky edits they have been reverted often because incorrect or made up. One of his additions to the page is that Brett Ratner moved out of the United States, this hasn't been reported by any major publication so it seems as if FMSky is the one to have a conflict of interest.
- I believe Wikipedia users should take a moment to look into his other edits and see how many times his edits got corrected or reverted.
- In short: user FMSky keeps deleting Ratner's credit as one of the directors of a tv series, 3 major sources were cited. I have no affiliation with the subject. Piranha Petey (talk) 23:12, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
