Thanks for the welcome! I found the Help Desk yesterday and introduced my project: to create a draft page for my father (award-winning biophysicist, professor emeritus), and got a lot of good advice there.
I've just added declaration of COI on my user page and on the draft talk page, so I think I'm covered there.
I'm getting close to submitting the draft for review, just looking at final details.
I don't know how much I'll continue to be involved in editing other pages, etc., but who knows. This project was my entry point, and is driving my learning curve. Philscijazz (talk) 15:35, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the swift response, just left a post at Teahouse.
I had been led to believe that
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(academics)
would relax the independent coverage criterion, since he satisfies criteria 2 and 3 for academic notability.
If this is not the case, then there is no solution, because there is no independent biography available. Just the CV published on the university website. Philscijazz (talk) 01:42, 28 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Question about secondary sources:
Are official faculty pages published on the university website adequate to establish faculty status, at least? That seems unequivocal. I'm aiming to try to locate suitable citations for individual items in the article, in the absence of a comprehensive independent bio.
For example:
https://lsa.umich.edu/physics/people/emeritus/skrimm.html - simply to establish he is emeritus faculty in the physics department
https://lsa.umich.edu/biophysics/people/emeritus/skrimm.html - simply to establish he is emeritus research scientist in biophysics
Also, there is education info on this page:
https://macro.engin.umich.edu/profile/krimm-samuel/
If these will work, in place of citing the CV, then maybe I can proceed this way (I've made relevant edits in the draft). Can I get a ruling on this without resubmitting the draft? Philscijazz (talk) 19:31, 28 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Whew, thanks!
Given my declared COI, I don't expect to be editing this one, at least. Philscijazz (talk) 06:01, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi, well done for creating your first article... and for surviving the process. :) It gets somewhat easier after the first one.
Can I just remind you that since you have a conflict of interest (COI) in this matter, you should not edit the article directly now that it has been published. Please make instead edit requests via its talk page, using the {{Edit COI}} template.
Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:04, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Absolutely understood. Much appreciated. Philscijazz (talk) 06:10, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
