List of soccer players with 100 or more international goals

edit

Hi Pablodalma, as far as I can tell, the precedent is to interpret international goals as goals for the player's country. In addition, we already have List of footballers with 50 or more international goals, so I see no need for your list at present. Thanks, 1Potato2Potato3Potato4 (talk) 20:28, 12 April 2015 (UTC) == ==Reply

Thanks for the reply. I didnt know about the existence of that article. Of course in this matters, many times there isnt only one criteria. I'm using IFFHS criteria which is accepted by many newspapers, tv and such around the world, though I'm not saying it's the most widely accepted because I consider it's imposible to know that. IFFHS is one of the 2 main soccer statistics group, the other being RSSSF, and it was given support by FIFA for its activity. IFFHS gives an anual "award" that is listed later by newspapers, where they consider international goals as goals made in club and country. But there is no record of such record for all time, and I think it's relevant for 2 reasons, it gives light to achievements made by players such as Puskas or Gerd Muller, and it also gives light to achievements made by current players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Regarding the article, I think there are 2 options, either to clarify which criteria is being used for that article (ie IFFHS criteria) or restating the other article as players with most country goals made, which I assume it won't be an idea people will like inside Wikipedia since it's an older article. By the way, this criteria I'm using, it's already referenced in Wikipedia in Lionel Messi article (and I assume it's somewhere in Cristiano Ronaldo article too) since they broke the record of most international goals for one year according to IFFHS criteria

PS: I'm not familiar where I should continue talking with you, if you see this I appreciate your answer

I was just asking out of curiosity, the best place is probably the talk page of the 50 goal list, or if that is inactive, at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football somewhere. Thanks, 1Potato2Potato3Potato4 (talk) 15:29, 13 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
Please can you quote the section that says Messi has 125 goals from his Wikipedia article? Thanks, 1Potato2Potato3Potato4 (talk) 15:37, 13 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

It doesnt say that, what it says in records is, "Most international goals in a calendar year (2012): 25 (shared with Vivian Woodward and Cristiano Ronaldo)[394]" (this is a record accounted by IFFHS, see an example http://www.iffhs.de/the-worlds-best-top-goal-scorer-2013/) . IFFHS counts most international goals in a year, using the criteria that 1 international goal can be made in club or national team. The article I created is about counting them in the whole player's career using the definition of "international goal" IFFHS has popularized. What I meant is the definition of "international goal" made by IFFHS is already in use in Wikipedia

A barnstar for you!
