March 2010 edit

  Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article John Moffat (pilot), please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This is particularly important when adding or changing any facts or figures and helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources for information about how to cite sources and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Please explain in full what this youtube clip is - is it from a documentary or similar. At the moment the article reflects the version given in The Times interview with him on his 90th birthday, which states that Moffat was given credit for the shot by eye witnesses in the following plane, and this is the account given in the official squadron records. youtube clips aren't generally well-received (and are often copyright violations) so are nto the best choice of reference - seeWP:RS. Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, PATTISSON. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article John Moffat (Royal Navy officer)‎, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Sjö (talk) 10:48, 15 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Sockpuppet investigation edit

  You are suspected of sock puppetry, which means that someone suspects you of using multiple Wikipedia accounts for prohibited purposes. Please make yourself familiar with the notes for the suspect, then, if you wish to do so, respond to the evidence at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/PATTISSON. Thank you. You have been blocked from editing for a period of one week for abusing multiple accounts. Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

I've blocked all of your sockpuppet accounts, and have blocked this account for violations of our multiple accounts policy and our policies on edit warring, reliable sources and neutral voice. When your block expires, I encourage you to discuss the changes you would like to make on the article's talk page and get advice from more experienced editors regarding the information you must provide first. Further disruptive editing and/or violations of these policies will result in longer blocks. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 17:41, 10 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
