Speedy deletion nomination of David Price (Football) edit

A tag has been placed on David Price (Football), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

inappropriate cut and paste move of David Price (soccer); delete due to non-standard capitalized "F" in disambiguator, pending result of RM request

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this:   which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. —KuyaBriBriTalk 14:30, 18 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

April 2011 edit

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give David Price (soccer) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. —KuyaBriBriTalk 14:31, 18 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four halfwidth tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. —KuyaBriBriTalk 14:32, 18 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

David Price edit

Now that that's out of the way...

There are three problems with the "move" you did: First, you cannot cut and paste text from one article into another for copyright reasons (see the notice above). Second, since "football" is not a proper name it should not be capitalized in a parenthetical disambiguation term. Third, there is an article on an unrelated football player named "David Price" at David Price (footballer). So we couldn't even move the article to an appropriately titled David Price (football) without confusion. I've made a move request at Talk:David Price (soccer) to get some community consensus on how best to handle these pages. —KuyaBriBriTalk 14:39, 18 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
