Orphaned non-free media (Image:Limosloshy.GIF)
Thanks for uploading Image:Limosloshy.GIF. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 20:18, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Sorry!
Sorry for all the orphaned images, Wikipedia. I was a newcomer to importing images into entries, and orphaned them only by accident.Oxguy3 (talk) 01:37, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Meanest Man Contest.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Meanest Man Contest.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FASTILYsock(TALK) 22:50, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
sources
why not try using would using the Convention Ear itself as a reference? someone else already has properly cited the convention program.
No! (unfortunately... i know it's frustrating)
"blah blah blah"
reference: "I read read this in the Convention Ear."
Yes!
"blah blah blah"
reference: Convention Ear info (date, author, title, publisher, etc.-- i can help on w/ the format)

- I was the one who cited Convention Ear. The issue I'm talking about names the people running for each office, but it doesn't name who won - it was published before the vote. The announcement of the winnners has, thus far, only been made vocally.
- as frustrating as it may be, you are not a "reliable 3rd party source"... i struggled to find a link verifying who the previous OJCL president was-- every other office had a blog on the old OhioJCL.org website. unfortunately, i couldn't cite that President.
- as for "Ancient Greece/Greek", this is taken from the OJCL bylaws:
- ARTICLE II - PURPOSE
- as for "Ancient Greece/Greek", this is taken from the OJCL bylaws:
- 2.1: The purpose of this organization will be to gain a more thorough knowledge of ancient Greek and Roman life, history and literature, to understand better the practical and cultural values of the classical languages, and to interest other persons in these languages.
- Most students begin with Latin and then go on to greek, largely because ancient greek uses a different aplphabet. It's one thing to translate "Brittania est insula." It's another when you don't even know what the letters represent. That's probably part of the reason why the convention theme has traditionally been in Latin.

- EXCELLENT souce! Keep them coming!
- 66.213.124.194 (talk) 21:06, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, I just Googled "OJCL" to find that.
- Also, when I said I cited Convention Ear earlier, I meant to say that I was the user who added the citations of the 2010 OJCL Program, and of the 2nd 2010 issue of Convention Ear. Just so ya know. Oxguy the 3rd (talk) 21:10, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
- You said you were looking for the name of last year's president... I found it here. Not sure why you need it though...
- that's for the 2008-09 ojcl president (why i wasn't able to use it prior to the 2010 convention) MisterE2123 (talk) 00:27, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
- to clarify-- i don't need last year's ojcl president (2009-10) or the one from the year b/f (2008-09)... my point earlier was that it's important to cite information. a few months ago, when the 2009-10 ojcl president was still the current ojcl president, i was unable find a citation for him/her. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MisterE2123 (talk • contribs) 00:30, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, I just remembered that I'm writing an article about OJCL for a school newspaper. I checked the guidelines for reliable sources, and concluded that my school newspaper is not a questionable source, so I can cite it once the paper is published. Hooray! -Oxguy the 3rd (talk) 04:06, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
- WP:SELFPUBLISH. Unfortunately, I do not think an article that you yourself have written can be used by you for citing in the article. It would need to be from a third party. MisterE2123three (talk) 05:24, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

subjective editing
Please stop removing or changing content for purely subjective reasons. Removing/changing a piece of content because it "looks bad" or something else "looks better" has nothing to do with the article's factual substance or Wikipedia editing guidelines. Don't get me wrong, if something looks out of place, then by all means edit however you see fit-- just don't rationalize minor changes like these by saying one way is "better than" the next without any substantive argument to actually back it up.
"underlining looks unprofessional"
"switched to better version of logo"
The article Andy Paris has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. — e. ripley\talk 02:24, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Pegunungan Dieng
Please remove the non-free sound sample from this page immediately. There is a reason the picture and sound file were removed by DASHBot. According to criterion #9 at Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria, non-free content can never be used outside of article space, except in project-space pages intended to "manage questionable non-free content". Improper usage of non-free media can get the Wikimedia Foundation in copyright trouble. Thank you for your understanding. Xenon54 (talk) 19:41, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

Torch: Ohio
Any luck finding a newer source for this? MisterE2123Five5 (talk) 04:29, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- No, but I haven't really looked yet. I've been kinda busy (homework & 'xam prep & classes; oh my!). If I find something, I'll change it and reference it ("it" being "Torch:Ohio" on the OJCL page). Thanks! Oxguy3[dubious ] 21:26, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

Sweeping JCL state-chapter changes: Please Read
Your attention and input is needed here. Mulitple changes made to JCL state chapter articles w/o any discussion. I consider these unconstructive and bordering on vandalism WP:VAND. MisterE2123Five5 (talk) 04:15, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Having trouble with Latin Wikipedia
{{helpme}} I have found a somewhat notable error on Latin Wikipedia, but I'm not fluent enough in Latin to find the Help Desk or the Administrators' noticeboard. I checked the "languages" sidebar section of the help desk, the admin noticeboard, the helpme template, and the adminhelp template here on en-wiki, but none of them have a link to the page on la-wiki. Does anyone know where I can ask my question there?
In case you're wondering what I need to say on la-wiki (or, better yet, you have the ability to solve it), here is my concern:
I noticed that the "Try Beta" link at the top of the page is in English for some reason. This is an error and needs to be fixed by an admin. It should read "Tempta Beta".
Thanks! -Oxguy3[dubious ] 00:17, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
- Since neither Google translate and Yahoo! Babel Fish both do not have latin translators I can't help you with the problem right now. I'll just leave the {{helpme}} template up for now so someone can possibly fix this up in the future. (It might be awhile, notification bot is down.)

- Perhaps asking at Vicipaedia:Taberna would help. —Mikemoral♪♫ 05:17, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Howdy Oxguy!, I wasn't able to find the right page to actually update it directly (I think there is one I'm able to edit on another wiki I just wasn't able to find it). I've passed it on to a Wikimedia staff member however who make sure the right person gets the message :) Thank you for the heads up! James (T C) 05:40, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
- Awesome! I'm glad this got taken care of; thanks! -Oxguy3[dubious ] 17:03, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
